Hello,

I am a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Birmingham, studying video games and personality traits.

In Psychological research, most studies are conducted using student samples. I feel as though this is unrepresentative of the wider gaming community. Therefore, I am aiming to collect data from gamers, recruited through gaming forums.

The experiment I have set up is quite simple, and will require you to answer a number of personality questionnaires as well as gaming preferences. It will involve around 15 minutes of your time. I am exploring how personality traits may influence what type of genre of game we play.

If you enjoy playing the game ‘Hatred’ and would like to take part, please go to:

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/W6DYQLD

If you enjoy playing the game ‘Need for Speed’ and would like to take part, please go to:

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WZNRWXD

There is also an optional second part to the experiment, details will be given to you when you finish the first set of questionnaires.

Thanks!

Hi,

I bought a PS4 a few days ago second hand from an ad I saw on gumtree and am having a bit of a problem with the loudness of the fan. When Playing 'The Last of Us', the fan started to get very loud - however it was easy enough to ignore so I didn't think too much about it.

I then downloaded 'Everyones gone to the Rapture' and the noise of the fan rose to almost jet level proportions. To the point when I thought the PS4 would explode! I got a can of compressed air and cleaned out the vents, but this didn't make much of a difference. After reading some tips on the net, I decided to take the PS4 apart and reapply the thermal paste. This took a few hours and the old paste was pretty much solid. I replaced it with a pea sized amount of artic silver 5 after removing the old paste and ws pretty proud of myself. However, it doesnt seem to have made any difference at all.

Below is a youtube video with the loudness of the fan in its current state. I've tried positioning the console horizontally and vertically, and its even louder if it is horizontal! Wondered if anyone had any suggestions - any chance the fan is faulty and would replacing it help? Or anything else I can try?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUCEl6jAmZQ

Cheers

Hi guys, So i downloaded L.A Noire on steam today, and although I originally got it working it was unplayable so i fiddled round with the settings and now the game wont start at all. Like I start the game on steam, it attempts to load, then just nothing. It happens time and time again. Ive run it as administrator, i've deleted everything and reinstalled it, ive verified the cache... I wondered if anyone else had some advice of how to fix it. Its driving me up the wall. Thanks!

Hey Guys, As the title suggests, i'm looking for a decent Gaming Keyboard for around £50-60. If anyone is impressed with a certain keyboard and has any reccomendations for me, I would love to hear them! Thanks! :)

hi guys, Obviously spoilers ahead so only read if you've finished the game! After finishing the game, I, like many of you probably have, spent the next few hours searching the Internet for explanations. It's been amazing, the explanations have been fantastic and I think I have a kind-of good idea of what's going on. although the whole thing is **** crazy. I've been left with a few questions which haven't been answered and wondered if anyone could shed some light. 1) If Booker, false shepherd Booker, had given Anna away as a child then tried to get her back, why does he not remember this event? He talks about the daughter he once had during the game, but never mentions the fact that he regretted his choice and tried to get her back only to see Comstock take her back to his reality. in fact, booker does only seem to remember this right at the end, but why? 2) Bookers nosebleeds? Can't quite work out the relevance of these... I understand that the people who died in a different reality get them because they can't comprehend what's going on, but why does Booker get them at the points he does? 3) How does the Prophet know that Booker will have A.D carved on to his hand?! If anyone would care to shed some light, I would be very grateful. fantastic game in parts but does make your head hurt....

I'm having real problems with the game, and have been from when I first downloaded it. When I click on the server to join a game, the wait time is literally 25-30 minutes every time. It's driving me absolutely crazy. I have emailed the people in charge but am yet to have a response. I wondered if any of you War Z players had experienced this problem, and whether or not you knew of a solution.
