So this is what we've been waiting for? This is the "big" update. What a freakin' joke. I mean I love Sony, and the PS3 is great, but this has to be the biggest bust ever. Everyone was hyping this up to be huge, and the biggest thing about this is Background d/l and Fold@home, or w/e it's called. I want a custom sound track, or be able to make my own custom background. DVD upscale? This update is gonna take forever to download, and it's not gonna be for much. I bet you won't even be able to play your game while downloads go on. So what's the point of even having it? Sorry if i'm ranting, I'm just a lil annoyed.Gordon_Slaveman
That's what happens when you believe RUMORS. You get your hopes up, and when the times comes you'll be ten times as dissapointed when it's not true.
I hope this teaches you a lesson as to wait untill official statements are released. You can't expect to have everything from day 1. Just give it some time, play some games in the meanwhile and you'll get extra stuff like upscaling in due time.
FF is a typical Japanse RPG, right? We all know that the biggest buyers of RPG's are still the Japanse themselves. Then, it is safe to asume that SE will bring out this game on the console that sells most in Japan, which is the Nintendo Wii.
Come to think about it, I think (don't know the official numbers and too lazy to look them up) that the Wii is outselling Xbox360 AND PS3 worldwide with it's low pricetag. Might be mistaken on that though. A logical choice for SE would be to release their game on the Wii instead since they have a bigger userbase. However, I myself would prefer to see it as an exclusive on the PS3.
Keep in mind, this is just me speculating. I'm not taking sides for any of the consoles. I am just a multiplatform gamer so please don't give me any fanboy crap.
Again: Why in God's name would Sony disable the EE chip in the older PS3s?
Because the EE chip shouldn't be in there in the first place? Sony has ALWAYS stated that BC was through software emulation. Due to time presure to release the console on schedule, they were forced to put the EE in there when their software wasn't ready, thus increasing the console in production costs.
As for the older machines that have the EE still built in, I think they might cause problems when both EE and software emu are running (not sure though).
Pardon any typos and or bad sentences... I'm not English/American and I'm tired + drunk
oh, and I don't mean the console...
just kidding :P
[QUOTE="Acrius_King222"]There is speculation that the new ads being shown at the Convention Center suggest that the new controller design will adapt some of the Wii's motion style controlling. This wouldn't be the first time Sony has borrowed technology that Nintendo created. Rumble Pak anyone?Moto19
Don't forget joysticks in 3-d gaming! and wireless controllers!
Joysticks in 3-d gaming (at least the analog ones) were first used by Sega on a Saturn game: dreamnights (or something like that, can't remember title >.> )
