Cranky Kong is in the game, so we can rule out the prequel theory. That weird rock probably just turned Pauline into a kid. I mean, I doubt Nintendo wants to create a "Pauline gave birth but we don't know who the dad is" situation. Then again, I suppose we don't know who Bowser Jr's mom is. Video games.

It's silly. For 10 bucks, they may as well give it for free and avoid the bad PR.

@blaznwiipspman1: I expect the framerates to be a little better on Switch 2 while running the games at 1080p instead of 800p. Maybe upscaled to 4K with DLSS while docked. Gotta wait for a proper analysis though, I agree.

@mikemaj82: That's not entirely accurate, a lot of people rented back then.

Maybe they should offer rentals again, but as a digital option. Something like 40 bucks for 14 days, or 20 bucks for a weekend. Maybe a bit less since Blockbuster wouldn't take a cut.
