"No surprises here. Grand Theft Auto IV has set a new record for first-day sales in the UK, shifting 609,000 units in a single day. This beats the previous record of 501,000, set by San Andreas in 2004. In terms of which version did the best business, ChartTrack report that the 360 one outsold the PS3 version, 335,000 to 274,000.

Predictably, while Xbox 360 does well in the UK the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV has proven more popular in both the Spanish and German charts.

In Germany the Xbox 360 version took second, with the 360 special edition in sixth and PS3 special edition in eighth.

In Spain the Xbox 360 version only managed third behind Wii Fit, with the PS3 special edition in eighth and 360 special edition in 10th.

Mario Kart Wii also featured strongly, occupying fourth in both regions.

Which he is wrong about... I think. I think the X360 has outsold the PS3 version in almost all regions.

thats not the point. The point is that GTA, the highest selling franchise of last generation, which enjoyed almost all its sales on Playstation consoles, was beaten out by the 360 version, and by Mario kart.

Sorry man, but ill love to see Sony try to spin this.
