Read this post very carefully, because it is very important.
Nintendo are begining this generation by introducing families into gaming universally. They're demographic is a combination of family audience, 12 year olds who live with the families, and older gamers like you and me.
The second stage of Nintendo Wii's cycle will be third party games like Mad World, No More Heroes, and Nintendo will move onto middlemarket games for the 14-15 year old who has grown up. So Nintendo will still not be catering to the hardcore but allowing third parties to take advantage of the gap.
towards the later part of the cycle, with an existing library of hardcore third party games who capitalized on Nintendo's general absence in the hardcore market, Nintendo will focus on the older generations who have grown up with Nintendo, who's mum and dad bought a Wii so that they could play Wii Sports.
