I'll start out by saying that I personally hate the Game store franchise. Their games are always more expensive than everywhere else - even Myers at times. It's the only game store at my local shopping centre so I pop in there from time to time to see what they're selling - though if I had to buy a game I'd rather drive 20km to EB and buy from them instead. An example was MGS4. Their price was $120 brand new or $115 second hand. Today I asked them if they had The Witcher or Bioshock for the PC. Their response was: The Witcher is extremely rare to find and Bioshock has been out of print for ages if you can find a copy of either you should get them straight away. Needless to say they didnt have it. I'm constantly surprised to see that their store is still open, it's always empty. On the flip side, EB is packed. They offer you the chance to swap your game for something else if you dont like it within 7 days. Game can't match that deal. I was at EB a week ago and they had four copies of Bioshock for the PC and two copies of the Witcher - so they can't be that rare. The only people I see doing deals with Game are those that have had shady dealings with EB in the past and refuse to shop there - so they're happy to pay extra at Game.

Any other Aussies that see the same thing where you live?

I'm surprised it got a 9. It lacks a storyline, so it should have received an 8 if it really is that damn good. It had better be the greatest platformer of all time - greater than Mario and Sonic when they were at their peak. Its given me an idea though, I'm going to create a movie that the viewer has to make themselves. In the DVD kit I'll provide some string, play dough, a few dolls and some childrens music to accompany it. I'll call it BigFatWorld.

LBP is not worthy of a 10, lets reserve that for true classics like GTA4 (sold 500 million copies) and MGS4.

I already pre-purchased both fallout and bioshock, so this is coming from someone with your taste in (upcoming lol) games. And I really hate sims, spore etc... But I really realy want LBP and have since they announced it, it just looks so great and the possibilities for what you can do are ahaping up to be limitless... Wait till it comes out and give it a rent, only then will you know if you actually like or dislike it. We all know that sometimes games we criticize end up being sweet for a reason we didn't think of before the game was released.LightThief

I appreciate your reply and I might rent it when it comes out to see if it proves me wrong. My opinion was based purely on the footage I've seen so far and the previews I've read about it. It does not look like a next generation game, the mechanics remind me of an old platformer like Sonic or Mario on the Megadrive or Super NES. When compared with the likes of MGS4 and GTA4 (both recognised as 10/10 games by a lot of reviewers) this game - at least to me - does not look like something people would/should get excited about. I was merely curious why people are so eager to buy it. Might be worth a rent, I'll see how what the reviews are like for it first. If it is a success, maybe play dough and lego will make a comeback too and we can put our consoles away and go back to the good old days when you could 'be creative and just have fun'.
