[QUOTE="notconspiracy"][QUOTE="skelebull3000"][QUOTE="notconspiracy"][QUOTE="skelebull3000"][QUOTE="notconspiracy"][QUOTE="skelebull3000"][QUOTE="notconspiracy"]alright, just for the hell of it, I will present an argument from the best explanation.
Fact 1: Jesus was crucified and entombed
Fact 2: the Tomb of Jesus was empty
Fact 3: There was a guard present at the tomb
Fact 4: Jesus appeared to the twelve
Fact 5: Jesus appeared to James, brother of Jesus, who was a skeptic.
Fact 6: Jesus appeared to Paul, who was also a skeptic. a major persecuter of the early christian church I might add.
Fact 7: Christianity spread rapidly throughout the Roman empire soonafter the life of Jesus
Conclusion: If one accepts the possibility of the existence of the supernatural, the resurrection of Jesus is the best explanation for the 7 aformentioned facts.

The flaw with this argument is that it all just comes from one source, the bible, which can't be quoted as historiography :P
*sigh* this objection is becoming QUITE annoyingbefore you can dismiss the historical reliability of the Gospels or Epistles, you have to actually explain why being canonized makes a document unreliable.
Well, to paraphrase the movie "Zeitgeist". There were many historians that lived around the area during the time. How many of them mention Jesus? Not one of them. How could a man that performed so many miracles not make it into the historical records?
*sigh* there were many cult leaders around 1st century palestine. second, how many historians ,other than Flavius Josephus, lived in 1st century Palestine?BTW, contemporary sources for ancient history are not needed.
Watch at 5 minutes 20 seconds. I don't feel like writing them all down :/

link'dBTW, skelebull, zeitgeist? you have GOT to be kidding me.
you're kidding right?
*sigh* I know that I'm being lazy. If you want you could just type in all the names to verify it. I just don't find it necessary to do much research for a discussion on an internet forum about something so troublesome :/
Don't you know? Zeitgeist crumbles under it's own sources. It's nothing but atheist propaganda.
What is "Proof" anyway? Give me proof that Einstein even existed. maybe he was a figment of all our imaginations and that E=MC2 is just something our brain has made up.
Give me proof that you are all not cyborgs controlling my brain making you think i am there.
U C????
Exactly

Please, I beg of you, think before you post. The only thing stopping me from flaming you right now is that you're a fellow gooner.
[QUOTE="CptJSparrow"][QUOTE="H8sMikeMoore"]What is a true American but a person who is born or naturalized into the United States? All other criteria are made socially, and are therefore poor criteria for determining whether or not someone is a true American. Take George H. W. Bush's opinion that atheists are not Americans for example; this is something that a person has pulled out of their ass long after the Founding Fathers, Paine, and Locke established our true philosophy about Americanism and is therefore invalid. Of course, "true American" statements are simple politiking...you, my friend area a true american. to me it seems that a lot of irish people tend to "get" america pretty well.
H8sMikeMoore
I establish what a true american is
someone who believes in: Little government, capitalism, and hella loadz of fun in the summar
No. You're merging national identity with political position.
[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="Silent-Hal"]Why do you Americans have such warped views on world politics 0_o? The way you are talking about it I doubt you even know what communism is.H8sMikeMoore
That's what I keep trying to tell them. Everyone who calls Clinton a communist is not even aware that on a global (or even just European) scale, she is pretty moderate, as are most Democrats.
people who call her that, call her that because they believe her programs will LEAD to communism. at least thats how i see it.
If anything, Hilldog's policies are more leaning towards right-wing.
How long have you been here? OT is all about being non-conformist and overrating everything good. Funny thing is, when everyone begins to non-conform to the same things they are in actuality; conforming. Kinda of an inevitable paradox.
I wouldn't listen to most of these people who "love" communism. Few of these people have an Economics degree (if at all) and none of these people would ever put their opinions into practice by actually MOVING to a communist state. They're prolly sitting there right now in their place sipping some cool, refreshing free-market beverage while you get worked up about this.
The Democratic race is an absolute mess. Hilarious.

Says the guy sporting a John McCain sig. Honestly, your view on 21st Century politics is laughable.
