I thought this album was pretty good, it could have been sequenced a bit better though. Tracks 1-5 are amazing, that song with the dream is trash, rich off cocaine is dope, and then it pretty much sucks until the last two tracks which are insane. j.u.s.t.i.c.e. league, toomp, and the inkredibles all destroyed this album. rick ross has very limited subject matter but his great ear for beats saves him. i can't believe that cigar music didn't make the album, it should have been the first track it encapsulates the whole theme of the album.
i like it but i expected it to be a little bit better. 4 of the top mc's in the rap game on a track together and only one of them gave a damn to write a good verse (t.i.). jay was wack as **** with that singing and what not. and don't even get me started on auto tune ill just get depressed.
im not feeling the studio version as much as the youtube video of the performance. dude came lazy on jockin jayz i hope it isnt really on the album. maybe it will grow on me i wasnt feelin blue magic right off the bat anyway.
pitchfork makes me sick...they love building artists up just so they can bring them down. its kind of ridiculous. they are also ride weezys **** HARD!! im not a lil wayne hater by any means, but it just bothers me how he seems like the only rapper they give good reviews for.
I like a fair amount of his material, but the **** riding for wayne on campus here has just gone out of control so im a bit tired of him myself. he also has kind of overexposed himself, but with that said dedication 1 & 2, carter II, and the drought 3 are all bangers IMO. it just bothers me because a lot of his verses are unfocused and he always relies on wack lines like "strapped like a book bag", WTF???
that new kast song is definitely hot and its pretty much the only thing good about gangsta grillz the album. who the hell said that speakerboxx/love below was boring? step up your listening game son.
