I feel like this even looks better than Rage.. How is that possible? This was my E3 game of the show, glad it doesn't disappoint

The game was way ahead of it's time.

el3m2tigre

In a lot of areas definitely. It's kind of hard to look back at it as it were when it came out but it looked amazing and could run on anything. The physics, sound and atmosphere, AI and voice acting were all top notch, but now as more FPS's have emerged it definitely shows its weaknesses (half life 1 holds up so much better, by far the better game). Enemies are straight up bullet sponges that only flinch when they get hit, which is very annoying, also while some of the guns had excellent sound the impact/feeling of them was just a bit off, they just never felt as powerful as they sounded i suppose. Another thing, the driving elements are awful and need to go away. To get from one point to another doesnt have to require vehicles but something more creative (Half life 1 did it), and as a result would probably make the game a big longer.

Half-Life 1 did so much right, I could never understand how they made a facility so much more interesting to explore than an entire city. Not to knock on Half-Life 2's design because it's athestically better than Half-Life 1's but ultimately i feel like they made such a better use of their environment... (Minus a few awesome places like Ravenholm). I also felt like the marines were FAR more menacing as a threat, you weren't elite or some super soldier, but a scientist stuck in the middle just trying to survive.

Too much AAA competition maybe? I want this game to do well but I am very skeptical. Hopefully they can further tweak it some more by the time it's released.

[QUOTE="TruestGamer"]People are arguing about some ps3/360 games being subhd, yes but they are still ALL greater than 480p/i which was the previous generation standard, no? If you aren't getting it for the 3D, why get one at all? Isn't a DSi around the same price? Nintendo got arrogant and greedy and their reputation and years of "forgiveness" have caught up to them. If anything, Sony has the most potential to be the "new nintendo". Nozizaki

Because the DSi is WAY less powerful and has a primitive internet and wireless system in comparison. Not to mention the part that the DSi doesn't get 3DS games or 3DS Ware.

Define "way less", as far as a few fancy shaders and added power i dont see much of a leap. I'd say it's a bit more than a PSP. If we're going on power, why not get a VITA? When the 3DS was 250 dollars, did you feel the same way?

I really believe that the developers are just seeing a huge spike in the increase because it's something new. They all start developing for iphones and they just dilute their own market. I'd be glad to have less but more committed developers producing games for consoles. There is money to made everywhere, i just dont think the traditional gamers are as big of a market as the game companies have hoped. It's hard to say there is no difference between playing on a big screen in your living room and on a phone. They are not the same thing, just like fast food and fine dining are not the same.

How many kids did you see walking around playing DS's just a few years ago? They were all over the place. Now? nothing but iphones/androids. Their parents wont shell out money for something they already have. Most of the older fans have abandoned nintendo completely since last gen, so yes, they are in a world of trouble... Why would we want it to be successful? Why would you want it to undermine the VITA? The vita represents us as gamers moreso than the 3DS ever has, why stick up for it? We are selling ourselves short as gamers.

DOOM series has some of the best ambient noise/music I've ever heard in a game. DOOM 3 had incredible atmosphere as well. Also Silent HIll 2 and Resident Evil

The franchise completely lost its direction since they abandoned the ship based gameplay and made it some open world action adventure with lame characters. Return to the ship, the main characters, keep the story simple and leave the borderline furry fanfiction nonsense out of it.

It's like MSNBC or FOXNEWS just on a much smaller scale. Please those that provide you content and money. When was the last time you saw a negative preview? Reviewers literally get gifts when they get games from companies. GIFTS. In my industry, that's illegal. Why? Because you're no longer independent in thought.
