How long will the X1950 XT last me? If I do go for it, I will End up having to spend 300 more bucks when I decide to go to DX10, I guess its just with personally preferance, cus as I stated im still with my x800. I do have a part-time job so I guess its easier to drop 300 than it was 3 years ago.

So if you guys were in my situaion what would you do? please answer that.

harrisi17

Get the X1950XT. It will last you a good while still.

Yes, but not by a noticable amount. And it's also $450...

well, one more thing, I am playing at 1024X768 right now and my current card plays games great(I can play stalker with almost everything high I believe). With my new build, I will have a 21.6" Samsung that has a res. of 1680X1050. Will the X1950XT do good with this high res? It seems that because I buy budget cards, I always get second best performance, but I really would like to play my current games cranked up all the way. At this res. is it possible on games like STALKER, oblivion, Quake 4, Supreme Commander and such? thanks a lot.harrisi17

You could max those games at that resolution.

does this card have shader model 3.0? I was wondering cus that is what kept me from playing R6 vegas and some other games. Right now I have a X800 xl. I love my card, but its time to get a new one. Yeah, I think I might actually get the X1950XT.harrisi17

Yes.

so should I go with DX9, I haven't seen too much greatness in DX10 and by the time crysis comes out, the new cards will be on the way. All I need is for this card to play bioshock and call of duty 4 very well.harrisi17

The X1950XT is a very good card. It should play Bioshock and COD:4 very well. :)

well I was going to get a 8800GTS, but then everyone is saying that late this year there will be new cards. Im building a new PC and will have 2GB ram, e6750, and GA-P35C mobo. Now I could save the extra 80 bucks and buy one of the top cards of next gen. So is this card good or is there better. (consider that I will spend anything under the 280 that the 8800GTS costs).

please give advise to the situation and recommend any other top dx9 card.

harrisi17

Yeah, get that X1950XT. Probably best DX9 card out right now.

I'm thinking about getting a 7600gt while I wait a few months to get an 8800gts (using evgas step up program within the alloted time period).

But are the 7600gt's still good for gaming?

I wanna play games like BF2142, Halo 2 and ES4:Oblivion at 1440x900 resolution.

I'm looking for medium-high settings.

Reaper425

It's not "ES:4"..It's TES:4.

[QUOTE="TugboatTheGreat"]

[QUOTE="rat951753"][QUOTE="xfactor19990"]or i recommend getting the lower resolution.rat951753

im going to call Alienware tommorow and tell then to lower the resoulution.But what should i say lower it to 720p or something else?

720p and 1080p aren't the resolution. 1900X1200 is the resolution. I think 1280X1024 is a good resolution. Or you could try 1400X900.

yeah i just dont know the exact numbers.Which would you suggest 1280X1024 or 1400X900?

It depends. If you like widescreen then go with 1400X900. If not then go with 1280X1024.
