For a while I had a problem with my battery being undetected, now it is detected but it is at 0%, and is plugged in. According to the battery center it is not charging though. Is there a way I can toggle this or something?

[QUOTE="Dogswithguns"]That's what Fallout3 and Oblivion for you... they always froze on you.TerrorRizzing

add morrowind, it wasnt any more stable. Although Ive been lucky I guess.

I was incredibly lucky on Morrowind and Oblivion. Fallout 3 was the golden hit for me.

[QUOTE="UCF_Knight"]I don't know how everyone seems to have problems except me. I played Fallout 3 for like 11 hours today, most of those consecutive, and only had it freeze one time.

What are your specs?

[QUOTE="Underworldy69"]I only have a dual core though. i_like_pie35

Yes, it only has 2 physical cores, but it's hyperthreaded to simulate, for lack of a better word, 4.

I also have a laptop with an i3 and had the same issues as you. I did the fix herehttp://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/20199-fallout-3-windows-7-w-quad-core.html(I think it's the ini fix you mentioned in the OP but it sounded like you didn't do it because you thought you didn't have a quad core) and it worked for me. So if you haven't tried this, I highly recommend you do.

Should I also change anything else on the way? For example, should I rename my file to fallout.ini if it is named fallout_default.ini ?

All sounds pretty interesting. When I first saw it, all I could think was "A new one already? I don't even have MW2!" Although I'm not too big on the whole FPS genre, so I also doubt I will buy it. Even though my friends will probably pester me non stop to get it, lol. Blame me for spending too much time on RTS and RPG games. :PMongreen
same here! fallout: New Vegas FTW!!! That is more likely to have my money than Black Ops.

For those of you who watched the demo of the upcoming new title for call of duty, it defenitely looked interesting(or at least in my opinion). It was promised to be one of the greatest shooters so far. so will it live up to its title? What do you think? what are you expecting from call of duty:Black Ops?

[QUOTE="Underworldy69"] I meant it RAN on max. I never said it were flawless. Intel Core i5 (I upgraded to it a while ago) 2.45 ghz Nvideo 260m GTX 1 GB 8 GB Ram (I put in an extra 4 GB) Windows 7 64-bit And the latest patch... have any of you guys updated it lately? They fixed a lot of problems. For the last time, you don't need an insane rig to run GTA IV. It pisses me off when people say that. My old 2005 desktop ran it (not even closed to maxed though.) charmingcharlie

I guess it depends on your definition of "maxxed out" I personally don't believe you can claim to max a game out unless you are getting at least 30fps @ 1920 x 1080 (or higher) if you see drops belove 30fps then the machine is struggling to run the game and therefore you are not maxxing it out.

So are you seriously trying to tell us that you play GTA 4 with everything maxxed out @ 1920 x 1080 and it stays above 30fps at all times on a dual core with a 260m GPU ? Especially when Rockstar Toronto themselves state you need 2 x GTX480 and a fast i7 to max GTA 4 out fully and keep the frame rate above 30fps.

I play GTA 4 with the latest patch installed and the latest patch was actually the worst yet performance wise. Yes they fixed some things in the patch but they also broke a shedload more things. A good example is how the shadow distance for some objects is now 1ft away from Niko. There is one easy way to tell if GTA 4 is a good port or not and that is stick it on console settings (low/medium @ 1280 x720) and decent hardware such as a Quadcore PC with 8800gtx should get frame rates of around 60fps. I tried console settings on my quad with a GTX260 and the game barely stays above 30fps.

GTA 4 is one of the worst console ports I have ever seen, even if we ignore the lack of optimisation there was also the issue that for nearly 2 years a lot of the effects and assets present in the console version were missing in the PC version. Hell Rockstar Toronto are that good at patching their game that patch 1.0.2.0 actually removed even more assets from the game (they were put back in 1.0.3.0). So GTA 4 deserves it's rep as a horrendous port and Rockstar better do a damn sight better for the next GTA.

Worst preformance yet from the latest patch, that made it even faster than before. Oh and also and I "for the last time" said that it is not even close to running flawless however but it works great. And who cares if Toronto said. If it works, it works. To the other guy, its an Alienware PC.

I think someone just got owned... Arcain :)

Resistance_Kid

hmm?

Sigh. What I am saying is, Arcain got proved wrong, because your lappy can max out GTA 4 :)

I wouldn't call it a lappy, I'd call it a "desktop replacement." It is heavy as hell.

[QUOTE="Underworldy69"][QUOTE="Arcain48"] People are getting annoyed because all you've said is you have a dual core and that your "laptop" can run it on max. You haven't listed your specs or anything which makes it hard to believe. Seeing as you haven't listed your specs it makes people question your computer knowledge, which makes it hard to believe you'd have an insane rig capable of running GTAIV maxed. On topic, RE4 was the worst I've personally ever played. Never played Saints Row for 360 or PC so i can't comment.Resistance_Kid
