So this means the 360 will be discontinued seems far fetched for 2012.

Santesyu

They might not discontinue the 360 right away.

As some of you may or may not know, i was a huge lemming. But now i feel like M$ has betrayed me. They have left their original costumers to pursue the money and fame like the Wii. Kinect has ruined anything that was good about the 360. The lack of exclusive games this year and next year is proof of this. Console gaming for the hardcore in general is dieing. Sony seems to be the only one left thats actually trying to keep the hardcore games alive. But soon i can also see sony dumping that. maybe not for the PS3 but for the PS4. you can expect 100% casualized next gen consoles from all three companies.

I loved nintendo when i was a kid....but i would have never guessed that it would be them to kill console gaming for me. they have spread a virus. and they need to burn in hell for it.

anyways i sold my xbox. sure im going to miss halo reach and its going to suck not playing gears 3 next year. but one big exclusive per year is not enough to keep a system.

the only hope for console gaming is for a new company to step in next gen and take over the hardcore market. Apple...they can be the savior of this casual virus.

Who els feels this way?

GrabTheYayo

Out of curiosity, do you have a PS3? Do you have a Wii?

Sony has confirmed that it is buying back theNagasaki Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (NSM) Cell production facility from Toshiba, as rumored earlier this week. The plant was sold to Toshiba back in 2008 and then leased to NSM, a joint venture in Cell chip production between Toshiba, Sony and SCEI; once Sony has purchased the plant, the NSM partnership will also be terminated.

The sale is expected to be completed early in the fiscal year ending March 31 2012, after which it's unclear if Toshiba will continue to use the Cell chips in their high-end Qosmio notebooks. Sony uses the Cell technology in the PS3 console.

So we might be seeing the Cell in the PS4 afterall.

-Renegade

I think we went over this already.

But yeah...The Cell Processor is doing just as well as ever.

For some reason there seemed to be alot of misinformed people that thought the Cell was discontinued or something.

In the PS4, I expect them to use an advanced Cell derivative....maybe they'll call it the KELL or HELL or something.

The HELL PROCESSOR....lol

So it requires hardware from 2004 to play a game from 2009 on PC? I don't see the problem here.

ChubbyGuy40

I agree...no problem here.

PC's are the lowest common denominator for this generation's games.

No problem.

A gaming PC from 2006 can run anything consoles can, and gaming PCs from 2007 can max-out/near max out games today. A low-end gaming PC can at least manage basic 720p in all of its games, something consoles have trouble with. Heck today even the GPUs that are cheap and more for movie playback than 3D rendering is better than consoles.

ChubbyGuy40

Here let me give you a tangible example so you can be more clear:

Street Fighter IV

Operating system Windows XP or Windows Vista CPU Pentium 4 2.0GHz or higher Intel Core2Duo 2.0GHz or higher Memory 1 GB or higher 2 GB or higher Hard drive space 4.5 GB of free space Graphics hardware DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce6600 series, ATI Radeon(TM) X1600 or higher, VRAM 256MB or higher DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce8600 series or higher, ATI Radeon(TM) X 1900 or higher, VRAM 512MB or higher Sound hardware DirectSound compatible, DirectX 9.0c (or higher) compatible

PS3 is more powerful than the low end computer that can run STREET FIGHTER 4 (2009)

I can't connect my keyboard and mouse and play Killzone 2, Black Ops, or Gears of War 2. Yet for any PC game, if I wanted to, I could use a controller. It doesn't matter what the consoles support. If the games don't support it then you can't use it.

And it's common knowledge keyboard and mouse trounces controllers, especially in the FPS department. Remember that study MS did where they let xbox and PC gamers play online (forgot the game) and the Xbox owners got dominated? It wasn't even close. Try playing Quake or even TF2 with a controller. You can play, but you will get owned. Controllers need auto-aim to even play FPSes. I'm buying myself a PS Move just because it's better than KB/M. The Wiimote is excellent for FPSes, not as great as KB/M, but better precision and speed than controllers.

ChubbyGuy40

That's your opinion that K/M is better

That it's better for you...that's a fact.

Why? Because my controller using friends would disagree with you, and there are many thousands of PC gamers that use controllers.

One question: What makes you think people are willing to buy an 3rd party controller just to play one game? If the developers are willing to port Diablo 3 to the consoles; they are going to have to make it so the game enjoyable on the standard 360/ps3 controller. Why you think they are just going to port the game and depend on 3rd party controllers is beyond melawlessx

Everyone has a Keyboard and Mouse, lawlessx.
