@ShadowStyleB: I feel like it doesn't offer enough content up front. All I see is a repetitive grind fest that requires you to be always online to play. Like Destiny but with a different setting. $60 of constant repetition, overpowered and damage soaking human enemies, a $40 expansion pass driving that up to $100, a stingy rewards system, and just not enough interactivity and destructibility than what I was expecting after it was shown off at E3 and other places before. I said much of this in my original post, so I feel like I'm just repeating myself now. Having higher standards doesn't mean I don't believe a company shouldn't make money. But there is such a thing called value for money, and from what I and others have said and are saying, I don't believe this is a game that offers that.
@ShadowStyleB: Not everything. Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, GTA V, and Diablo 3 (console versions, anyways) were priced just right and worked right out of the box fabulously. Not to mention they all offered a lot of content with the base games as is. They didn't feel overpriced to me. Games like this, R6 Siege, Destiny, sports games, and most Call of Duties are overpriced. As for the wall of text, again, I feel like I don't have to cater to people with short attention spans and such. I should be able to share my views just like the reviewer did.
@donjuancorleone: I don't like catering to people with short attention spans, ADHD, and limited or non-existent intellectual functionality. You're free to not read it and go about your merry way.
I honestly had a bad feeling about this game as soon as they compared it to Destiny. I returned that game within the first week of release to Amazon for a full refund. When I finally saw the gameplay for The Division in action on YouTube after the predictable advertising campaigns, preorder bonus offers, and ensuing hype train, I was overall unimpressed. It looked and felt like a hybrid of Watch Dogs and Destiny in a somewhat apocalyptic landscape. I was dumbfounded by how generic looking thugs with basic coats and guns could soak up SO MUCH DAMAGE from sniper rifles and heavy machine guns. It didn't make any sense at all. At least give them experimental power armor or heavy kevlar, body armor, helmets, and masks for more credibility. Make them smarter and actually fear dying. Many of these guys behaved like PCP and cocaine infused lunatics with high powered weaponry. The environment also looked pretty generic and much of it non interactive. Not a whole lot of destructibility or interactivity than what I expected. I'm also not a fan of these level grinding loot systems. Some games just make it work, like Diablo 3 and its consistent, giving, and overall generous rewards systems. Others like Destiny and The Division feel like a huge waste of time. This game badly needs some revamped systems in place, like drastically improving the graphics, AI, and the environment and interactivity, before I'd even consider a purchase. Maybe that day will come once the inevitable Complete Edition comes out for less than half price in a year or so. Right now I feel like it's overpriced and still in the experimental beta phase. By the time that ends and the Complete Edition comes out, I'll give it a shot on PC during fall 2017 at the earliest, judging by the looks of things.
@dwicklund1992: That was for the PS4 version of the game. Now the average is down to 86 on PS4, 82 on PC, and 84 on X1. Keep in mind this is based on 12, 4, and 7 reviews, respectfully. I believe that over time, those numbers are going to keep decreasing.
@rosinmonkekyx17: Better performing, cheaper games, beefier hardware, longevity, and unlimited customization. Yeah it's the master race alright. But expensive as hell if you want the best.
How about no more paying for Xbox Live and PSN? Those are paywalls that cost us $110 a year. Makes me want to sell these off and join the PC Master Race.
Backwards compatibility has been a huge disappointment. Halo Reach has bad performance, and almost all third party titles perform worse on Xbox One than they do Xbox 360. I'm glad I just have both plugged in and can just switch between either console on the fly and not have to worry about this.
