which one is better?
I think HL1, simply because it had some really cool stuff. Like that mission where you had to kill that boss that could only hear you. you had to have the missile launch, awesome.
oh, and you could seal off the other scientists by closing doors and what not. You could also kill them.
I am a horrible, horrible human being
oh and to the guy who thinks i dont work here:
I have worked hard to get here, you have no right to insult me in any way you prick
[QUOTE="ch2423"][QUOTE="VGLeo34"]I am a Level designer and there is no cover in Resistance 2 and well never consider it.
forgot_my_name
Well, that sucks. When I was playing through Resistance 1, it just felt like a mediocre FPS with nothing new. A game where a cover system would've helped. I guess part 2 will be more of the same.
Oh well, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will be eating up much of my FPS playing time this year so I won't have to worry about Resistance 2.
He doesn't work at any game company. Just another child thinking its "cool" to say they work at a game company... at least its better than "My dad works at *insert game company here* and I played *insert unreleased game here* and *insert incredibly stupid sentence here*".
to the first guy he quoted: resistance (in my mind) brought alot of great weapons to the table, that was the main focus of the game, also, WE WERE A PLATFORMER COMPANY USING AN ENGINE THAT WAS NEVER MADE FOR GRAPHICS THAT LOOKED REAL JUST REALLY FUNNY. what did you expect? Half Life 3?
it brings a sense of reality to the game. in real life i'm not going to stand there jumping around shooting people while i take shots. im going to grab cover and shoot from around it.Kobewars87
but i play games to escape reality
The nominees are:
"this game NEEDS a covers system"-i heard this while working with valve on Half Life 2. We fired the stupid a few days later for gross incompetence.
We need to implement better graphics, like, could we use SOURCE and make ratchet a human in new york
-I HEARD THIS A FEW MONTHS AGO while i was working on polishing up the levels for insomniac(Level Designer, still owrk for them)we couldn't believe this guy wanted us to be UN-Creative
These Classes are weak and stupid, just give me a gun and this is a good game
-SWEET JESUS THIS ONES OLD. Heard this one while working on the mid version of TF2. Thank god we ignored him
could we make it an FPS, but with better graphics and a coversystem, and less of a story and more action.
This was my first job with DoubleFine, this was a beta tester, my foot met his (insert bad nam for butt here).
so vote, Everyone around me(4 guys, 1 gal) thinks its a tie for the first and last
when i bought COD4 i immediatley started playing it, i didnt come out of that room untill i had beaten the game and had gotten the highest multiplayer rank EVER.
Then I read reviews:
LINEARITY
NO COVERSYSTEM
JUST A STUPID CONSOLE PORT
DIMWITTED AI
CRAPPY STORY
I went WHAT? Then i saw everyone had the sam opinion.
Let me just address some of the issues stated above:
The maps are pretty linear, yes, some even compare it to a rail shooter. But so what? The fact that instead of getting shot at from the right I can get shot at from the left in non linear maps isnt a innovation but is just normal. Also, almost every shooter(including halo 3) has pretty linear maps. But also, do you have time to think left or right when your brain is occupying the space of one million-billion bullets and grenades? Also, the level that is kinda rail, the AC 130 mission, CANNOT BE COMPLAINED ABOUT EVER.
As a Level Designer for Insomniac(Valve before that, doublefine before that, then valve again) I can say that putting in a cover system is HARD, lots of programming and lots of Level Designers time go into making sure you can cover that wall. Its not just this map is good, throw in a cover system BOOM good game, IT TAKE LITERALLY HALF A DEVELOPMENT TEAM A FULL YEAR.
First of all It came out for PC ALONG with the consoles, and crappy?
I thought the game had great AI that had enemies using cover depending on their weapons and had my teammates actually helping me instead of making me run errands for them.
Yes the story is short but its great, and theres no part in the story where the storyline stops because some guy is held hostage and you must go alone to find him, bring him back, find out he has nothing to do with anything, and then go on to the next mission.
Basically whats your thought on the complaints? Are they all valid? what?
