Fire emblem, Doshin the Giant, Gladius, Future Tactics on the Gamecube
Disgaea, Elvandia Story, Future Tactics, Langrisser III, Sakura Taisen on the PS2

Eduspcloud

Some of those aren't real strategy games and are just Rpgs on a grid field using some tacked on Strategy elements. Some of you may not realize it but games like Fire Emblem and Digaea actually aren't strategy games. Isn't Gladius a shooter or am i getting mixed up with that?

The shooter game is Gradius..Gladuis it's another game and genre

What is the game about?

how is FE not a strategy game?rawsavon
It's an rpg with strategy elements. So because of the Rpg part, the game is scripted, your choices don;t have as many options, there isn't that many branchews if any at all, the skill curve is non-existent, there is not depth in the strategy part of the gameplay because it focuses more on the rpg part. There are some hybrids that do indeed focus on the strategy part more, however for eastern strategy games they usually over punish you for mistakes. Which isn't bad or anything, I just found that strange that they all have that one feature in common. All Easter strategy focused games (at least with rpg elements) all punish you severely. Which I don't actually mind, some Western ones do it too (but usually have more depth and you have a more open world type gameplay.) heck, I forgot the name but there's a game where you only have 5 members and if one dies you continue anyway. It also has it so that if you take too much damge during battle, your HP stays at a certain point for the rest of the game. In theory, you could have 1 party memeber left with 100 HP at the end of the game. Also that game autosaves to so you can't go back after messing up. Damn what was the name of that game? Well enough rambling from me on punishing games. But in any case Fire Emblem is good for what it is, but not for its secondary genre.

Syphon Filter, going from consoles to the PSP (and having PS2 ports) to vanishing and fading away for years and years and years. I noticed no new news, no websites, no hints to a new entry? Do you think that games like Splinter Cell Conviction and MGS4 were just so much more successful stealth games that maybe they think bringing back Syphon Filter would end up being a risk? Do you think they killed the Syphon Filter franchise? Will it come back? What do you think? Personally, I had some good times with the series, terribly underrated and they never really threw money around for good press either, and not doing that led to it loosing popularity until Dark Mirror came out, and although Logans Shadow was the latest game (PSP-PS2) it kind of dived off the radar. I hope a new one is made.

[QUOTE="finalstar2007"]

[QUOTE="soulitane"]Tell me when they make a Jak and Daxter, not interested in this series.soulitane

I'm almost 95% positive a new Jak game is going to be announced at E3 and will shake E3.. Sly collection? Sly 4 was after it.. GoW collection? GoW3 was after it.. ICO collection? LAst Guardian was announced.. Ratchet collection? this new ratchet game and lastly Jak collection? Jak 4 at E3

thats how i see it :P.. a new Jak game will happen and i hope to god it wont be Vita exclusive.

Just as long as they give it to a better dev this time and it's on the PS3 I'll be happy. :P

Let me guess, you didn't like Lost Frontier?

[QUOTE="layton2012"][QUOTE="Vanishandfade"][QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] What nine? Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP / PS2) Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction (PS3) Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty (PS3) Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time (PS3) Ratchet & Clank: All In One (PS3) This will be the 6th game this generation.

You fogot Size matters Secret Agent Clank Size Matters PS2 mix Secret Agent Clank Ps2 mix. That's 9 games this gen.

I don't think he's counting ports, and neither should you, and they were ports to a last gen system so he is right, their have been 7 ratchet and clank games on this gens consoles and handhelds.

No he's wrong he said 6. He forgot SAC. also those ports aren;t the same game and they were advertised as such. Also PSP was current console gen so the PS2 ports are current gen games.

[QUOTE="Vanishandfade"]Emerald War, you said $30 but most Gamespots sell it for $50 from what I have seen.Emerald_Warrior

It's been $30 for a few years now:

http://www.gamestop.com/gc/consoles/gamecube-system-gamestop-refurbished/36647

I was going to say the gamespot stores in our area were ripping us off, but they do allow you to choose 2 free used Gamecube games for free. Although that would be like $40 and not $50 so I think they are still ripping us off.

[QUOTE="Vanishandfade"]Except the thread has nothing to do with the question and he locked it by misunderstanding or not reading the post under the thread topic. What i am asking and what the thread he linked to are two different things.c_rake

Oh, right. You're new here. You haven't seen how all these threads end up.

The question you're asking here? That's what every thread on Conviction devloves into. Every. Single. Time. Hell, the thread doesn't even have to be about Splinter Cell for it to happen! So long as Splinter Cell or Conviction or stealth games in general are mentioned, someone is gonna de-rail the topic. The other thread's already got a bit of that, albeit not as much as previous incidents.

Here, take a look at one of the threads. That's basically what every thread turns into to some degree.

I'll keep this open for now, see how this goes, but I swear -- if it turns into yet another god damn debate thread like the one of the many others, I'm done. No more Splinter Cell threads.

Ok, I see what you are saying. that first page did it already. But this is more of a direct question, so no comparisons will be made. So this thread is safe.
