(hopefully this fits in this section, had a hard time between choosing from here, pc game forum or general game discussion)

So, I started a year ago on uploading Youtube videos (tomorrow will be exactly the one year mark). My channel has over 50 subscribers, and I've never really done very much interacting with any of them.

Well thats going to change.

If you like Rome Total War (or any of the Total War series, though to start, I will only be doing interactive videos of RTW), I will be doing videos of my campaign progress (and future campaigns), and the viewers of the video will be able to help dictate how the campaign goes. By that, you (the viewers) can say to attack certain empires, or expand a certain direction, do nothing and just build up...or something entirely different. It will be all up to you! I also have many other videos of various games up.

For now, this will only be for Rome Total War. But future games will be interactive as well. At least ones that make sense for them to be.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjUIwrjCVi8 my video for the state of the channel address.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Vendayn and my youtube channel

I really want to do something great on Youtube. I already have a lot of video views, but I want to interact with my viewers more than I have been.

Thank you everyone who watches :)

And since I can't edit...forgot a couple things his favorite games that I have are (in no particular order): Sins of an Empire, Age of Empires 3, Company of Heroes, Warlords Battlecry 3 he doesn't like the total war games, though he liked the sea battles in empire total war. I have Empire Earth 3 as well, forgot to list that...we both hate that one lol. And he already has the whole collection of empire earth series. And he has starcraft of course, forgot that one...he plays that a lot I think.

Friend is coming over for the weekend and we like to play strategy/rts games.

Games he has (that I can remember):

Warhammer rts

Universe at War

Empire Earth 1/2/3

Age of Empires 1/2/3

Civilization series

Warcraft series

Company of Heroes

Games I have

Age of Empires 1/2/3 (1 and 2 don't work on my PC, doesnt like windows 7)
Warlords Battlecry 2 and 3

Sins of an Empire (plus expansions)

Age of Mythology

warcraft series

Rome Total War, Medieval 2 Total War, Empire Total War

World at Conflict

Rise of Nations

Company of Heroes

Supreme Commander

We like to be able to build bases and stuff, not just command units

So, any new (or old games that work with Vista/Windows 7 out of the box, without a bunch of tweaking to get them to work...tried that with Age of Empires 2 and had to do a system restore)...anyway...any rts games or strategy games we might like? Avoiding the city builders of course...I'm into them, but my friend isn't

Thanks :)

I'll just save my money for now. And see if there is any way to get my speakers setup with the room I have...I have 5.1 and a good speaker system, just need to figure out the space.

Whether or not a soundcard is worth it depends on how much you look for audio detail. If you get a soundcard you'll notice the sounds are a bit crisper and there is less background noise. It will also reduce the load on your CPU a bit.

If you are looking for a bit more audio detail, I would recommend the HT Omega Striker 7.1, it's about $70 IIRC. Good brand, high quality components, a simple yet powerful driver suite. A nice feature of these cards is Dolby Headphone, which will give you the sensation of having surround sound through headphones. All you do is set the driver to 8 channels, set the output to headphones and click the Dolby Headphone button, voila, play game and watch movies in a very well done psuedo-surround.

Really though, if you're just looking to have surround, and are satisfied with the way it sounds now, just save your money.

Marfoo

Thanks :)

And no, my surround sound system isn't that great...the speakers only fit in front of me, no space behind me. So it isn't surround sound at all really...I guess you could call it Faux surround sound.

I was thinking of buying a sound card, one I was looking at is Sound blaster Xi-FI Xtreme Gamer. I have 5.1 speakers, but my room is too small and no where for the speakers to fit behind me...so it ended up not being surround sound, it was a present from my dad. So a sound card would be a lot easier since I have little room for speakers.

Is the Xi-Fi Xtreme Gamer good? I'm kind of on a budget (don't want to spend too much more than a 100 dollars, I'm out of work because of the economy and haven't been able to get a job. I'm doing my own thing, but I'm barely getting by)...so Xtreme Gamer is around 80 dollars.

Or are there any other good ones? The sound card seems to get good reviews. I have headphones already, so that is taken care of.

I am...been waiting for ages. Though, I'm doing my best not to get hyped up like many did and end up disappointed.
