I never thought either left 4 dead or left 4 dead 2 were scary they had an eerie mood to them but thats all but imo left 4 dead 2 is so much better the environments are just so much better. The new characters are like you said not as good as the originals but theyre still lovable. and the music has more of a variety to it.

when i first heard multiplayer i actually started thinking more of a survival type mode with multiple friends (similar to horde and firefight) i didnt really think competitive because it would really ruin dead space for me but a mere survival mode would be a LOT better

Whoever told you that is a liar. The reach beta doesnt go live til spring of next year. And you just have needed to buy the game to get access to the demo. Meaning you will have access to it through the extras menu in ODST.
