I think Infinity Ward has most improved. CoD4 surpassed anything they had done before.

I'm disappointed in Blizzard. They've published nothing but WoW in the past 5 years.

Most improved - Relic

Least improved - Ensemble (That is, if downgrading counts)

QFT. Company of Heroes was a revolution, and Dark Crusade was a hundred times better than Dawn of War, but AoE3 was a major disappointment.

I usually look at GameRankings, but for an individual site, I'd say IGN. Their reviews are sometimes a little less professional than GameSpot's, which is why I read both, but IGN's are clearer, easier to read, and above all unbiased. GameSpot sometimes seems to want to 'make a point' by giving overhyped games excessively low ratings.

The motion-sensitive controls would make the Wii ideal for FPS, were it not that the Wii has only basic online compatibility, no downloadable content, and that serious FPS developers are discouraged to develop for the Wii because of its poor graphics compared to the competition, its casual audience, and Nintendo's kiddy image. I dare say it's Nintendo's fault that there are so few good FPSes for the Wii, because they aggressively market the Wii as a casual and accessible platform and do little to compensate hardcore gamers.

PSP offers little new - most games are PS2 ports. The games are much less diverse, the vast majority of them are racing games. The DS is innovative, more diverse, cheaper, and has more games overall. Also, GameSpot favours the PSP, but on Game Rankings (i.e. when combining all review sites and magazines), the DS has 3 AAAs/36 AAs, the PSP 2 AAAs/44 AAs, which is a much less significant difference. And on Metacritic, the DS has 3 AAAs/48 AAs, the PSP 1 AAA/58 AAs.

pretty much, but is highly crippled as it can't do anything but entrtainment. [QUOTE="f50p90"][QUOTE="Victor_Kudo"]

Then why would one buy a 360 instead of a PC, except for the fact that it is cheaper?

imprezawrx500

You just answered your question, it's A LOT cheaper

a bit not a lot, e2160, 2gb ddr2 800 ram 8600gt, 200gb hdd can be had for less than a pro x360 and can run every game just as well

The difference is that in 2005, you could buy a 360 for €300,- and play the newest games with a solid framerate until 2011/2012. If you bought a €1000,- PC back then, it wouldn't even last 5 years without being upgraded.

Halo is a good game, not a great one, nor a revolutionary one. It brings nothing new to the table. It doesn't stand a chance against the likes of Half-Life or Far Cry.

True, Jeff didn't hesitate to give games scores that were much lower than the average industry score, but he always gave solid arguments in his reviews. And you say Zelda should get a higher score than WarioWare or Tony Hawk because Zelda is an epic action-adventure game, but that's nonsense; they're different genres. WarioWare is a great game in the minigame genre, Tony Hawk is a great game in the sports genre.

i think he's very reasonable in his OPINION.Always-Honest

A reviewer shouldn't merely state his opinion, he should give an objective and well-founded verdict on the quality of a product.

[QUOTE="redstormrisen"]

Steam is a great service.

CoH is not a game I would have played without steam.

Or Gmod.

bigevil_rashek

Whats CoH?

Company of Heroes. By the way, Google is your best friend. http://www.google.com/search?q=CoH

Nah. Rockstar's only great series is GTA, and then there's Bully but that's only one game. Manhunt and Manhunt 2 were mediocre. They can't compete against a developer like Blizzard (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, WoW), Insomniac (Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance), Westwood (Command & Conquer, Dune) or id (Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein). I don't count Valve since the only real thing they made is Half-Life (the rest are all Half-Life mods, with the exception of Portal which is only 3 hours of gameplay and TF2).

The Wii-mote, like the DS Touch Screen, is better than a traditional controller for certain types of games, and worse for other types of games. Nintendo realises this and uses motion sensing controls only when it adds to the experience, not when it's just a gimmick.
