Sometimes story matters (for me) it depends on the game. Obviously if its a game like Dragon Age or Mass Effect you want awesome story. However if the game is another Mario (platformer not RPG) who cares why the princess was stolen. You just want to jump around in the latest and greatest world Nintendo made.

I don't know why everyone thinks the combat is dumbed down, i button mashed my whole way through origins. and never felt the need to take a step back and think about the fight. cool interview tho : )
