Guess I'm the only one here willing to give the PS3 some cred huh?  Yes, R:FOM is the only game worth playing on the PS3 right now, (and it's a really great launch title).  So I feel the sting of not having a lot of really good games on the PS3 as well.  But the fact is, some great titles will be out very soon, (VF5, Motorstorm, F1, Oblivion, R6:Vegas, Splinter Cell, etc), and that is good news for PS3 owners.  And before you start ragging about most of the games already being on the 360, don't bother.  Because it doesn't change the fact that they will still be great games worth playing on the PS3 & a lot of PS3'ers don't own a 360.

So yeah, it wasn't the greatest start ever for the system, but it's looking to get a lot better here within the next month.

Finally a man with reason.   I don't agree with you 100%, but I can respect what you say becuase you are not ranting, talking about cows and/or lemmings.  Also when you give opinions you say I feel, instead of stating as a fact etched in stone. 

Remember Sony's famous quote, "The next-generation doesn't start until we say so."?  Well, I guess by the launch of the PS3, they said so.  And the next-generation is looking pretty impressive.  Why, in Sony's current lineup we have...uh....well, there's Resistance: Fall of Man.  And....well, that's about it.

"Bu...bu...just wait!"  No, I don't want to wait.  Neither does everyone else.  The PS3's lacking lineup isn't much incentive to wait for the truly awesome games.  Not when there's some great games on the other systems.  All I see that's good for the PS3 coming out this month is Virtua Fighter 5.  That would give the PS3 TWO good games.

Welcome to Sony's next-generation.  The time period that one good game calls home.

Really though, Live is great and I don't think it's motivating developers to do less with the single-player portions of their games, just EA. It's an innovation and it sucks if you don't have it, but single-player games were all developers had to make in the past. The online element is an entirely different part of the game to focus on now, and a lot of gamers prefer online multiplayer to single player games. Developers are still creating games like Mass Effect and Bioshock, and Guitar Hero II still has same-console coop play (even though that's the only coop play). Live didn't ruin gaming, it's making it better.

I agree with everything you said except the fact that all people like online games better.  That may be the case however it has not been proven.  Myself I play just about every game on 360, but I have only played Rainbow Six and GEARS of war online.  In this thread alone it seems to b 50/50 on which type of games people like.

What do you mean  get to AAA.  The Halo games have always been AAA.   SO why do you think this one will not be.  I am not talking about your opinion.   If a games gets a good rieview from every site, Mag, etc. and is the most played on Xbox live.  then it is triple AAA you might not like it  that is fine. Sounds like everyone wins but Sony.  We get Halo 3.  Microsoft gets money.  Sony gets nothing.  Sounds great to me.

Halo 3 will get high AA maximum. Why?

1. Because Halo 2 shouldn't have gotten AAA but GS fell for the hype. GS has learnt from their mistakes and won't let brand name and hype affect their scores again.
2. Halo 2 was saved by online multiplayer. Now Halo 3 has nothing big enough to save it like Halo 2 did.
3. The visuals look slightly better than Halo 2.
4. The game is essentially a rehash of Halo 2 with more brutes.
5. Halo gameplay is getting old and boring now. The same predictable gameplay isn't AAA worthy.

Halo 3 won't get AAA, high AA at best. You heard it here first kids.

Yeah people are really getting tired of it.  That is why it had the most played online games until gears came out, even though it has been out for over 3 years.  Also did you know that it was still the most played game on xbox live after the 360 came out. 

...how can you gaurantee that mass effect will be high AAA/goty? bioware has never won a goty award. bioware's games have never scored higher than 9.2. bioware's last game scored an 8.4

think of all the other games that have been hyped to score as well but have turned out not meeting they hype.

Technically you are correct, but KOTOR scored higher on almost every website then KOTOR2.  Somehow though KOTOR2  won GOTY when all it was was an extension of KOTOR.   Really Bioware deserves the award for KOTOR2 becuase it was basically just the second KOTOR.
