Imovie HD 6 imports so slowly. Is there anything I can do to make it import more quickly. No other video editing app imports as slowly as imovie 6 but Imovie 6 has more features.

I've just recently switched to Mac from Linux a while ago, and there were some apps that I was looking for alternatives to. I have a Power Mac G5.
Do you know any alternatives (preferably free ones) to Photo Booth, or Itunes? On Linux I really enjoyed Banshee media player but it's only on INTEL macs. I also really like GIMP but hate X11, is there anything that works as well or better than GIMP? (I've used seashore and may like it eventually, but I dislike the UI right now)
Also what is the best video editor for macs? I want to like Imovie, but I have Imovie HD 6 and it takes a really really long time to import clips. Any help will be appreciated.
I'll have to get Dead Snow for this weekend then!
I own Princess Mononoke and love it (hopefully she does too)
My new girlfriend is coming over to watch movies this upcoming weekend. Her favorite movies are horror movies and my favorite movies are action (mostly war) movies. What are some of the best movies that will fit both of those categories, or that we'll both enjoy?
I've recently switched to Macs from Windows and I'm loving the experience so far, but on Windows I used FPS creator and Silent Walk. Are there any alternatives for either of the programs for Mac?
No but there's a good song called Born In The USSR by Bruce Springskolov

 That was good
Is there anything out there that will show you how many websites you've registered with over your entire internet escapades? It occured to me today while I was arbitrarily signing up for a website and wondered, "How many pointless websites have I joined all together?" Is there such a thing that will show me how many websites I've joined?
