As an Englishman, I'm not well versed on US rights when it comes to guns, but here's something I want to throw out there:

Do you (Americans) think it is a benefit to the US that guns are legal? The feeling I often get is "because guns are legal, I must arm to the teeth just in case I get robbed by a guy with a gun". Would you rather have had it that guns were never made legal in the first place?

KlepticGrooves

The thing is that people will kill people and continue to do that for all eternity. If guns were illegal for the most part such as they are in the UK then only the government and criminals would have guns. Criminals wouldn't care about the obviously and you as an unarmed citizen would be victim of the ever-increasing tyranny of your government as we so clearly can see with the UK. Hell you can't buy cutterly for cooking without age restrictions. One day your government could put you all in trains and send you off to work camps and you'd have no way to stop them. The founding fathers of the US felt that if government went out of hand it would be the duty of the citizens to utilize their 2nd amendment rights to remove the tyranny.

I'd rather have every single adult person in this country have an arsenal than only my government and criminals have them. There's no "because guns are legal, I must arm to the teeth just in case I get robbed by a guy with a gun". It's all optional. Many people here have guns for the sole purpose of self defense because it's a wonderful deterrent to would-be wrongdoers. I could rob people all day long in the UK but here in the US I have to assume everyone has a gun and will use it to defend their lives. If you look into it some more you'll find that gun ownership works quite well in civilized nations. Look into Switzerland.

Shooting sports are just about the safest sports of every sport out there.

Here are some pictures that basically sum up my points:

I hope that has helped. If not I invite you to come to the U.S. to take some firearms safety and training courses and go to a shooting range with me. It's quite fun to hit milk jugs at 500 yards with a one of the Lee-Enfield rifles Britain used for their military but banned from their citizens.

my dad has an Ak47 i now where its hidden and i want to show it off but cant

gugler990

Well unless you get permission from him it is indeed wise to abide by the "hands off" law.:P

You can get AK-47s (semi-auto) for under $400 these days in the states. CenterfireSystems has Bulgarian AK-74s for $370 shipped and AIMsurplus has Romanian AK-47s for about the same price.

It's generally best that if you own guns to not show pictures of them off to people unless you can do it anonymously. Someone can use it to make a list of you collection so they can rob it from you if they find out where you live.

Nah, all the airsoft copies of the G36 use fake bullet mags.

Real mags:

They look pretty close hence it's a probably higher-end airsoft clone but it's still airsoft most likely. I asked to see his credentials because legally owning one of those requires a fancy tax stamp from the ATF not to mention a real G36 with select-fire is really really hard to come by as a civilian here. There are just not that many of them outside of law enforcement and exclusive private collections.

Plus who in their right of mind would put an Aimpoint that high up on one of those lol.

My home-defence system.

That is an airsoft gun. If it isn't you should also include a photo of your tax stamp for a registered machine gun as per ATF regulation.

Oh and sup peoples. I've been a forever-long lurker of this board and just remembered I still had an account here so yeah. I'm rather well-versed on firearms and actually own guns, reload ammunition, hold a federal firearms license, and shoot often. If you have questions I'd be happy to answer them. Do not troll me with your tyrannical anti-gun stances because I will shut your argument down and make you look like another Hitler The only right every single human being has is the right to their own body. It's the only thing we can bring to the table in the beginning of everything and use without making anyone else worse off. There is NO logical argument to keep people from doing whatever they want with their own body and property so long as they do not harm someone else or that person's property without their consent. Firearms are mostly a recreational item and can be used by individuals to defend themselves because the only allowable case of harming another human being is in self-defense. If you find this all confusing I suggest you take a course in ethics and/or read some books like On Liberty by Mills. If you're one of those brainwashed foreigners that still doesn't understand then well there's no hope left for you but I would appreciate if you led a happy life without making other people worse off. Kapieche?

So with that out of the way....what questions do you folks have? I'm sure there are some other competent gun enthusiasts here and possibly some fellow /k/ommandos.
