Um....Halo 2 is not even out on PC, and you are talking of Halo 3.....Anyway, I prefer controllers, they require more skill than point and click. I will get a gaming rig later. But I prefer consoles.

Um, you have a PS3 in your avatar....anyway, if you don't want 360 because you don't want to pay 50 bucks year, then nevermind, go spend an extra 200 bucks upfront on a PS3. And remember this.....you get what you pay for, you can't expect ALL your console games to have good online (or even online at all), if you don't pay money. 50 bucks a year is nothing, and if it is too much, then you really should be gaming.....unless if you only buy about 2 games for your system.
I don't think the game will suck. I think I want to see more about Heavenly Sword, because honestly, I don't know enough about this game for it to interest me. But the images shown don't look spectacular. I need to see it when it is nearing completion.
