Hasn't the FF series been anything BUT a system seller franchise in Japan and Europeas of late?Verge_6

I don't know about Europe, but still the biggest system seller coming out for any of the consoles in Japan, since the next DQ is on DS.

Ten games per week sounds pretty impossible if you ask me,especially with the pace we've been getting them at now:roll:

IMO Final Fantasy has better music than all of those by a wide margin.

Ohh

haha thats hilarious!!!

how can a game of that pedigree have such a silly mistake?? :P

toxicmog

It wasn't a mistake. It was just more evidense that the virus was starting to take effect.

I see

lol its not that funny anymore

That entire part of the game is hilarious. You honestly need to play it to get the codec calls and everything. Although after that the story become really really stupid but yeah.

Did anyone else besides me think they actually got a gameover when that popped up?...you know before you notice it said Fission Mailed?

i saw fission mailed, but just asusmned i was dead.

and stood in one spot going argh >.>
then i did die xD

Well when he called on the codec and told me to turn off the PS2, I thought it was some trick and actually switched the console off lol. I felt like such an idiot once I realized I had just shut off the game, and to make it worse I was playing it in front of a couple of buddies

i see its sony bashing again well i think that the ps3 by christmas well be AAA and it will prove to all u 360 and wii fanboys here wrong what has wii got out this year at christmas and 360 Halo the most overrated game in gaming history with uncharted heavenly sword lair ratchet and clank and home little big planet and warhawk its gonna kick your fanboy asses

mikasa

If I were you I'd stop hyping warhawk. The other's have a good chance of doing good but warhawk looks like a joke.

Actually, it is common knowledge that it is getting great reviews from people playing the beta...

For example:

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3160169

I've read multiple articles like this telling of what a blast this game is to play, this is just the only one I could remember quickly off the top of my head. Combine that with the fact that most in the beta love it, aside from connection problems (that's why it's a beta, right?), and I don't get why you would say it looks like a joke.

But whatever, I can see clearly from your posts here that you're a complete 360 fanboy...

Nobody will after this Gen, but if things keep going the way they are for Sony, consumer faith in the Playstation brand will be shaken, perhaps making their next PS a disappointment as well. This might be a bit of an exaggeration, but if Sony does keep doing poorly this gen, and then disappoints next gen as well they may end up leaving.

Nintendo is doing great right now with their Wii and Ds, but they really aren't large enough to go toe to toe with Microsoft and Sony for long, at least not in my opinion. However, this definitely won't effect them this gen, as they are doing amazingly well so far.

That leaves MS, who I think are least likely to ever drop out of the console race. They have said themselves they don't mind taking losses (and they have taken losses since the XBox) in order to gain marketshare in the industry. Also, I just think they seem to be one step ahead of Sony in most ways now, especially with online. Combine that with their deep, deep pockets and desire to dominate the games industry, and I don't see them leaving anytime soon.

I don't get what the point of this thread is.

Are you trying to say that GTA is a bad influence on kids and will cause them to do violent things (similar to what Jack Thompson says), or are you bitter that kids are playing GTA over Mario? Are you trying to tell kids what they should be playing? Why not just let them play what they think is fun.

I got GTA 3 back when I was 13 and had a ton of fun with it at the time. It had no negative effects on me as I enjoyed a great game, and I sure as hell didn't want some guy telling me to play something else for no apparent reason. Oh, and I also enjoyed Nintendo games at that time as well. If kids want it and there parents buy it for them, I don't see what the problem is. There still isn't any proven link between violent games and real life violence, unless you believe that garbage Jack Thompson spews about how Counter-Strike and other games teach you and train you how to kill effectively...

Also, the major gaming demographic is around ages 18-25 or something like that, and they are the ones buying GTA. You have presented absolutely no facts at all to support your wild claims that kids no longer play Mario and only play GTA.

This thread is ridiculous.

Willy105

When did I say that? I said they are doing that less. No longer do I see kids eager to play Super Mario Sunshine or Super mario galaxy, something that was widespread when Super Mario 64 came out.

Yet now there are kids hyping GTA4! GTA4!

And what's wrong with hyping GTA4!? The last 3 were excellent games, it's only natural that GTA4 is hyped as well. Same goes for Halo, and although I'm not a big fan of first person shooters on consoles, I can see why everyone hypes it as well. Not because it's mature (it's actually quite cartoony in appearance and violence), but because the previous two were excellent games that left people wanting more.

Mario 64 was excellent, but Mario Sunshine was a bit meh for me at least, and I think many others. Also, only having two true Mario games for consoles in the past 10+ years hurts the popularity of Mario a bit. It has faded a little when compared to Halo and Grand Theft Auto, but we shouldn't blame kids for wanting to be more mature.

Instead, we should blame Halo and Grand Theft Auto for being revolutionary console games, while Mario has had only two main console adventures in 10 years, one of them being mediocre compared to other titles in the series.

The difference is Playstation one and two brought in new gamers with traditional gamer-games. That way, the audience and industry grew, but the games as we know them remained the same.

The Wii, so far, is attracting a new audience with a new way to play games, and with mini games and other simpler or less hardcore games.

These games and the method of play are different from what gamers have gotten used to, and if it really catches on we may see an industry shift towards these more casual pick up and play type of games. This is a scary though to me >.>

Anyways, I actually owna Wii and have had a lot of fun with it, but I can see why people make this argument. I prefer Sony's strategy of growing the industry through typical games than Nintendo's strategy of growing the industry through new ways to play and mini-game compilations. But maybe that's just me not liking change :P
