A cartoon gets the default rating of |6.5| Criteria for a (10) - Animation Quality is Superb - Plot Is Captivating or Plot is Humourous - Voices are Pleasant - Music tracks are selected to the show instead of made on the fly based on whats on screen. It must have 1 full custom song. A score is chosen by first watching a few episodes. After that, the score is chosen by how much effort the animators/voiceactors choose. Then a limit is chosen as how high a show can score. Its unlikely a show will break its limit. Example: Lets make up a show with a great plot called June Bug. I personally like June Bug and its my favorite show, but I see lots of shady material going on, and mistakes, and bad voice acting. The show by this factor deserves a 7.0 and its limit is an 8.0. Score goes up when episodes dare to be expressive and dynamic and creative. Note that even though June Bug is my favorite show, it does not automatically get a good score. Outside factors like advertisement and amount of times the show airs goes into the score but rather slightly. Advertisements of the Next episodes of June Bug raises its plot value. EVERY CARTOON automatically gets a score of 6.5 Cartoons Lose points if they fail to satisfy the average within their genre. Basically scores are based on a comparison to ONLY cartoons, not ANIME. For an Action Genre, Justice League Unlimited would be used as the best example, compared to another show such as Teen Titans. Fairly Odd Parents would be used as an example compared to SpongeBob SquarePants. Example: Samuraichan is an anime show. Samuraichan recieves 8.0. Junebug a cartoon recieves 9.0. The Ratings system makes it so that Junebug isn't a better show than Samuraichan. If the shows were the same genre, a 9.0 cartoon = 6.0 in anime. This is unfair.
(1/28/06) Anime Review System goes by |8| As long as it fullfills the catergories below it can score an 8. Criteria for a (10) - Animation Quality is expected to be good. - Plot needs to be captivating, and suspensefull. - Comedy Anime are not expected to be funny because of different cultures. This score can sometimes help or lower the score but to a small amount. - Music in anime is expected to be premade, this score can lower based on Dubbed localization changing the music. - Voice Acting is based on Dubbed and not on Japanese voice actors. Anime can easily get a good score because it fullfills the requirements easily. There is no comparison at this time until more shows get dubbed. If a show scores below 8, it seriously has a problem in a department, either by horrible animation and plot, or companies altering it to appeal to kids in america. A show such as .hack//sign which is my personal favorite, fails in a lot of departments, although it's plot is pretty good, the slow pace, and bad voice acting lowered the score. Cartoons To be reviewed before June: Juniper Lee, American Dragon, The Xs, Ben 10, Robotboy, 6teen, One Peice, ZatchBell, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
