I currently have the PS3 MGS 4 Edition Model for about two years now and everything was working great until now.
Recently, I bought an Toshiba 19 inch monitor for my room which would allow me to connect my PS3 in my room rather than playing it in my living room. As soon as I setted everything up,it was working great until one day, when I was playing FIFA 11...BOOM, it shut down randomly with blinking red lights. I got scared cause I heard that this meant that the PS3 is malfunctioning and that it needs to be sent in for repairs. I shut it off and tried to turn it on again...it did for awhile then happened again.
I was clueless and didn't know what to do next so I contacted SONY and the rep told me you got two problems: either the console itself or the enviroment.
I knew the enviroment had to be an issue because when I had this PS3 in my previous room downstairs, it was quite cooler than upstairs and also to add to that, my main PC generates alot of heat due to the low amount of fans it has in it. I suspected that the heat from my main PC in the other room affected my PS3, which made it act like this.
So, I moved everything back into it's previous place and currently am waiting for it to cool down before I truly see if it is the enviroment of the console itself.
What do you guys think? You think its the console or the enviroment? I seriously doubt it's the console, I had this baby for 2 years, I bought it in June of 08, I had no problems at all, no shutdowns...nothing. Now boom all of a sudden? I honestly think it's the enviroment.
What do you think?
