@thebeachguy90 That's entirely your opinion, and it might be perfectly valid for the way that you play games. However, for myself and many others, the chat feature is a valuable service that is worth the price of admission. Do I wish it was free? Absolutely, but Microsoft has no competition in this area. They are a business out to make money and Xbox Live Gold most certainly makes money. Competition drives innovation. Had Sony offered a free cross game chat service then Gold may have ended up being free. However, you really can't blame Microsoft for seeing a legitimate business opportunity.
@thebeachguy90 You're just arguing semantics. It doesn't matter if it's a hardware feature or an online feature, and it doesn't matter what sony would have done if they'd had the foresight to think of the idea. It's simple supply and demand. Some people want it, and Microsoft's got it.
@thebeachguy90 That's just your opinion. The fact is that I use it every time I go online, as do most of my friends. It's the reason the 360 is my online gaming platform of choice. If sony offers it for free in the ps4 (which i'm sure they will) then i'd be happy to jump on board, but as it stands microsoft is the only company that's got it and many people are willing to pay.
@jollyjoel23 uh i have a ps3 and there is no party chat where 1 person could be playing say cod, another could be playing resistance, and another could be playing killzone and yet they could all be in the same voice chat session
ok so i made an account just so i can say that yes, gold memberships should be phased out in the next generation. However as it stands in this gen the 360 is the only console capable of handling cross game party chat. As an owner of both the ps3 and 360 i can honestly say that this feature alone is worth the 60 dollar a year price tag.
