I'm one of those people. This was a huge step-down from The Devil and the God. Hell, I would say it's a flat-out poor album. Probably two or three good tracks mixed in with a bunch of filler. Be Gone literally makes me cringe. Why he chooses to make his voice sound like that is beyond me. The lyrics don't even come close to the greatness of The Devil and the God (Jesus, You Won't Know, Millstone etc.). It's like they completely slacked off through the entire process.
Well, ANYTHING they could have done would have been a step down from The Devil and God. TBH I really like Be Gone, if only because it seems like they're really experimenting on this album. I agree that most of the lyrics aren't that great, but a few lines are pretty cool
And Noro's probably one of Brand New's greatest songs.
