I was talking about the noticeable quality difference in THOSE GAMES RELEASED IN BOTH MACHINES. Like Resident Evil 4, for example. How did you come up with me saying something close to "Gamecube was more popular than PS2"?

Honestly thinking, No game designer/journalist is gonna menction "Texture quality". Because it's not the same 1080p 60FPS in a next gen game than a HD ps2 port; in this last case even last gen consoles could do it.
Obviously it will depend on the tools and the coding tricks of each studio. You only have to compare Games released in 2005 and their sequels in the same machine a few years later.
Still, Their problem (Microsoft) is not giving good tools to developers. Last generation MS was giving a lot of tools to the studios and had a very good first two years. Sony barelly gave any tools and the first year of PS3 was quite poor.
So... now Sony learns from their mistakes and Microsoft stops doing something that was right from thebegining to fall in a mistake he already saw in his competitor...
