@gleencross: It's simple: for a product to be "sue material" it need to 1-1 copy a certain percentage of the original product, and still after that there is a lot of room for debate (that's why a ton of legal disputes end in nothing)
If a company could be sued for making something that is just "similar" to other product, we would only have one kind of FPS, fighting game and platformed. So in that regard things are better as they are right now (at least outside of China).
They really need to come with something groundbreaking. And words won't do it anymore. If they want people to trust their words again, they need to show stuff.
@arsnakeheart: Not sure what makes you reach that conclusion. The way the writer points at those moments is far different that the single-minded approach of the media outlets; she talks about the context and the unexpected outcomes. Besides, those scenes are meant to be uncomfortable and heavy and that's what she points, I don't see judgement on this one.
I can imagine the pressure: Having the task to renovate a very beloved franchise with a quite big fan-base is a hard task that could pretty much turn into disappointment for the most hardcore fans. I'm really glad for him.
