Ahhh...decisions, decisions

Well, it's been a while since my last blog post. In a week, I'll be entering my final quarter of my Sophomore year of college. What does that mean for me? It means I have to get off my lazy ass and declare a major. :P I really wish I had thought about this sooner but oh well. So, there are a few things I've been considering.

  1. History
  2. Art
  3. Legal Studies

Looks like art is pretty much out of the question. I could do it if I really wanted, but they kind of made it clear that they want you to declare art as a major in your Freshman year. So, if I did it now, I probably will end up sticking around passed four years which I suppose is all right. But, around these parts, art just seems unnecessarily competitive. My parents recommended Legal Studies to me. They think that I'd make a good corporate lawyer. I think I have more of an interest in history though, so I may end up going for that. I kind of wanted to major in Journalism or some kind of writing, but our crappy people in charge got rid of the Journalism program and the writing program is pretty crappy too. So, right now, those are what I'm considering. I wish there was a minor in art here because I'd totally minor in it. It's just not something I'm sure I'd want to major in even though it'd be fun for me. Anyway, I'll let you all know what I end up choosing. At this point, it looks like history may be my best bet. I enjoy it and you can surprisingly do a lot with a history major. Well, I guess you can do a lot with most majors. :P At least that's what people are telling me. They better not be lying to me.

Back to School and a Little Treat

Well, I'm going back to school. They actually closed campus on Friday because of all the rain here in the Bay Area. I'm hoping they'll close it on Monday so I don't have to go to class. :p Anyway, I watched Shrek the Third for the third time today. Weird huh? Everytime I watched it so far, there was one scene that made me laugh so hard that I cried. And I finally found it on Youtube. What scene is it? Find out here. The quality isn't that great, but that's the only one I could find.

Hopefully they don't take it off.

Freedom....for now.

Finally done with my first quarter of my Sophomore year of college. Hopefully I did well on my Finals. Winter Break, I'm going to Sacramento for a few days, actually this Thursday. We're going to meet the Governator...just kidding. :P Actually, we're going to the NCAA Women's Volleyball tournament. Thursday is the Final Four. Stanford, USC, Cal, and Penn State made it. I should root for Cal since I go to a Cal school, but we always go to Stanford games, so I'll be rooting for them. It's funny, they're actually the only team I like from Stanford. I'm not actually a big Stanford fan aside from their volleyball team. I like all the teams that made it to the Final Four, so I'll be happy with whoever wins. It should be fun. Other than that, I'll probably set aside some time for gaming during my break. :D

I hope you all are doing well as well. Hopefully the weather's not too bad. I surprisingly gets in the 30 degreesin the Bay Area at night. No snow though. :P

Wishing You a Happy Halloween

Trick or Treat? My treat this year is two midterms the dayafter Halloween. WOOHOO! So, I've been spending the past few days studying for my midterms in hopes of finishing before Halloween. I don't think that's going to happen. It looks like I'll be spending Halloween confined to my room. But, I did decide not to go to class on Halloween so I can study. We're doing a library visit so I figured I can miss that.Plus, I have to take the bus to campus and eveyone goes to Downtown on Halloween. So, it's going to be very difficult catching a bus ride home. I'mjust giving myself excuses not to go to class. If I do finish early, my friends and I will probably head Downtown. I honestly don't even have a costume though. :P

Well, I wish you all a Happy Halloween. Those of you who don't have Halloween, I hope you'll still enjoy the day. :D And all of you planning to party, have fun. I will probably celebrate Halloween this weekend by watching scary movies. I've never had the chance to watch The Silence of the Lambs, so I'll probably finally get to watch that. :D See you all around.

Red Wings!

Woohoo. I went to see the Red Wings play the Sharks in San Jose with my roommates. It was so fun, especially since the Red Wings won, no offense Sharks fans. I managed to get my friends into hockey last year and because of that, they like the Red Wings too now. I was a little sad because every time I go to a Red Wings game, I am reminded that I'll never see my favorite player of all time play ever again since he retired. My favorite player is Steve Yzerman or Stevie Y. for those of you who know him. But, they still have a lot of players that have been on that team for so long. Some of those guys have been together since at least the first time I saw them win a Stanley Cup which was probably about 10 years ago. Crazy. Well, I advise none of you to eat arena food unless you really have to. It's really overpriced and not that great. And it keeps getting more expensive. I was also really mad that the price of parking went up a lot too. I think it used to be under $10 and now it's $20. That's if you want the convenience of parking right next to the arena. We saw that and were like "HELL NO!" So we found somewhere else to park since we were there about an hour early. It's funny, every time I see the Red Wings, I'm always surprised how many Red Wings fans there are. I think everytime nearly half of the fans are Red Wings fans even though the Sharks are the home team. Maybe not that many, but there are a lot. I love seeing red and white everywhere. :D

GO RED WINGS!

And good luck to any teams you guys are rooting for in any sport.

Back in School

It's that wonderful time again. School has begun. I actually moved into an apartment with my friends off-campus at the beginning of the week. For lack of a better phrase, this week we've been hauling ass to get everything settled. One girl is from Hawaii and had no furniture or anything. So, we had to drive down to Ikea which is atleast an hour from where we are. We spent at least three hours there because she's really picky about what she buys. But, she found what she needed andhad to have some stuff delivered. We received the stuff she wanted delivered. One item was her bed frame. This bed frame was in terrible condition. The paint was really chipped. You could't even paint it over. One side looked like a smiley face was carved into it. There were no instructions and the screws came in a jelly belly bag. What the hell is that about? So, I'd bet my money that someone returned that one and they didn't check it properly. It was just in unacceptable condition. We ended up having to drive back down to Ikea to replace some of the part of the frame. It felt like we were out for ages. I don't know why. We were gone for close to six hours. But, I did get a nice refreshing Icee along the way. :D When we got back with all the fixed parts, we helped her bulid some stuff. It actually didn't take too long. She put the bed together. My friend and Ihelped with the desk and chair and we were done just like that. This week, it feels like I haven't relaxed at all. But, I guess that makes up for all the relaxing I did over summer.

Actual class is starting in about 10 hours. So, I need to hit the sack. If I don't post in your unions as often, I apologize. I know a lot of people have been saying that because of school starting. Some things just take priority. I shouldn't have too much school work this week since I only have class today which is Thursday. I have Fridays off. :D Hopefully my classes will be good and don't require me to read ridiculous amounts of books. I had that problem last year and pretty much did not read at all what my professors expected me to read. Honestly though, if I had read, it wouldn't have improved my grades at all. Most tests are based off of lectures, not readings. The readings are supposed to just be supplemental Iguess. The help further thee learning experience. I've written a lot this time. But, I don't do many blogposts. So, I hope you're all doing well. Take care of yourselves and enjoy life. :D

And the fortune cookie says...

"You and your wife will be happy in your life together." And that was the fortune my cookie gave me. Isn't it nice? It'd be even nicer if I were married. And it'd be even nicer if I were a guy. All I had to read from that fortune was "You and your wife." That was enough to make me laugh. I think it's funny they'd write a fortune with a word like wifethat's gender specific. Why didn't they use a word like partner. I wonder if any other girls have gotten that fortune before? :P

How would you react to someone who trips and falls?

Okay. I just got back from Las Vegas, and yes, it was fun. While there, I ate good and bad food, saw Monty Python's Spamalot, watched a really crappy pirate show, and saw a girl in high heals eat cement. Okay, at first, I felt bad for her. I thought "Damn! That has to hurt." She was just walking and all of a sudden...she just falls. Now, it's common courtesy not to laugh at people when they fall, but that was just impossible for me. I managed not to laugh when she was around, but when I thought about it later, I couldn't help but laugh at the poor girl. I just think people falling is funny. My mom thought I was horrible for laughing at her, but I couldn't help it. If it were me who fell, I'd probably still laugh. Maybe it's immature to laugh, but I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it. Now if she were seriously injured, I probably wouldn't laugh. But, she was okay. And of course, I'd never laugh at an elderly person or anything like that. So my question to you is, how do you react when you see someone fall? I know for some people, it depends on whether it's someone they know or not. I guess that's not the case for me. And I know people will be laughing at me falling in the future, so I'll be payed back. After all, I trip and fall a lot.

How Are All Your Summers Going?

Well, I know some of you like Savoy all ready work and probably don't get long summer breaks. But, I still hope you're all managing to get by this summer. Hopefully you're all having fun. Right now, two friends and I found an apartment off-campus that looks nice. So, we're working on getting into an apartment. Two of us turned in our applications. One girl lives in L.A. so it's harder for her to get her application in. I'm pretty confident we'll get in, but we don't want to sign any contracts unless all three of us get in. It gets to be expensive if you have one less person.

Read on if you like hearing me complain:  We actually are guaranteed housing on-campus for two years, but we all were really unhappy with how the administration handled getting us into dorms. They made us do a lottery, which was ridiculous in my opinion. So, the first people got the best rooms. On top of that, they could choose friends they wanted to live in the same apartment as them. So, the single rooms obviously went fast. So, by the time I went, there was no chance of getting a single room or even getting to room with the people I wanted to room with. The thing that really upset me was the fact that they made us fill-out applications before the lottery. We had no idea there would be a lottery. We thought they'd put us in our first or second choice. On the application, they ask where you want to live and whether you prefer a single, double, or triple. After that, they ask who you want to room with. That day, the server was so slow, so it took about 2 hours to fill-out the application. Then we found out were on the lottery list, so basically, I didn't see the point of filling out an application because we didn't get the rooms or roommates we requested. So, long story short, we decided just to live off-campus. I'd rather live with my friends anyway.

Well, that's enough complaining. I'm happy now because it looks like we're goiong to get a nice apartment. The only problem will be getting furniture. But, we'll manage.

Done with Valkyrie Profile 2/Mario Party 8 fun

Well, I beat a few days ago actually. At first, I really didn't care for this game, but it grew on me. Unfortunately, it took me about half the game to get into it. The story kind of sucked in the beginning, so I had no motivation to fight. But, it got a lot better in the sceond half of the game. I recommend this game to people who like real time battle system RPGs and not too many cutscenes. There is much more fighting than cutscenes in this games for those of you who enjoy that. And the battle system is actually good, in my opinion. So, if you want to try a game for the battle system, you should try this as well. If you plan on beating it, don't expect a typical RPG ending. I like that the they made the effort of making the ending a bit different from most RPGs, but it was kind of a sucky ending. The story was finally getting good and it felt like it just suddenly ended. Still worth playing though. It was a tough game. It doesn't take long to get to hard hitting enemies. I was amaazed when I died in normal battles. I'm used to dying in boss fights but not that much in normal fights. Eventually, I learned sweet abilities, levelled up, and got some badass weapons to own everyone. This game really takes more than just strength. You need to have the right set-ups for your characters. Although, there's a way to get these really powerful weapons for heavy warriors that make strength actually noticeable. :D

For you non-RPG fans, I hope you're enjoying your games. I played Mario Party 8 and was owned by Peach. I hate Peach. And, the worst part is that it was on easy. Fun game though. But not quite like the originals for the N64. WHERE'S DK? I can't believe you can't be him anymore. I guess that doesn't really affect me though since I'm always Yoshi. Yoshi's too cool. I still have levels I haven't been to yet. So, I need to try them. There was this BABY Boo world, which was a Haunted Mansion, and it really sucked. There was never no way of knowing where the star was. Anyway, I'm done talking. I really need to sleep even if it's only going to be for a few hours. I always tell myself I'm going to go to bed at3 a.m. the latest. Nest thing I know, I'm writing a blog at 5:30 a.m. My sleeping schedule is really going to be messed up. But I'm used to that.
