I think some games have conformed to the ideas of their genre because developers are afraid of them bombing from being "too" original. However, there are games that take that extra leap out of their comfort box that I think make a great industry even greater. Some examples:

The Elder Scrolls Series

Katamari Damachi (sp?)

Shadow of the Colossus

Kingdom Hearts

Harvest Moon

Halo Trilogy

All of these have brought something to the table that others failed at. It's all up to what YOU enjoy though! Just some food for thought.

Hmmm even though he said for all of you to pick from HIS list...

I think either Summoner, Oblivion/Morrowind, or Jade Empire. All differents genres, but all pretty good in my eyes.

[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"]Ink ribbons in resident evil 1-3. I hate being able to save a limited number of times.foxhound_fox

That is what made them SURVIVAL horror games. You actually had to plan your saves ahead of time so you couldn't exploit the system to make the game easier.

I agree. It's actually "save anywhere" that annoys me more as it tends to make games trivially easy. There are games where I think a save anywhere system makes sense, however, like strategy games and some RPGs. SpaceMoose

You can save anywhere in Max Payne 1&2 on the PC and those are not "trivially easy" games. :?

I stopped playing the first one on PS2 because the checkpoints began to annoy me when I was dying 20 times and having to go through unskippable cutscenes every time to only die again instead of just quick-saving right after and going from there.

A possible solution to this issue would be to limit the amount of quicksaves you can make.

The only gripe I have about persona 3 is that once your main character is dead, your screwed. this wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for instant kill attacks that can end hours of progress in tartarus.BoG_

Dear god yes. I don't mind not being able to control my comrades but they seem smart enough to be able to use Recarm on my allies... so why not me?

I'm sorry, I know this is off-topic, but I just have to say hell yes ReBoot! I haven't seen that since I was a kid.

Yeah I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that Rockstar definitely didn't uphold it's standards. This was most likely due to the major rush to get the game out. There's glitches, no real story, and no variety.

Hello all. I'm planning on attending Lake Washington Technical College for Game Design next year. It seems like the best option for the Seattle area for many reasons. They have a 2 year program where you will get an AAS in Animation/Game Design. Most other places (apart from DigiPen) are only offering a certificate. I was wondering if anyone has looked into any of these schools (or attends!). I'd like more information so that I know I'm making the right choice. Game design is definitely my passion in life. Thanks!
