This past Saturday I needed to buy groceries, so I went ahead to Target. So I'm looking over at the video game section, and I see a new friend of mine there. He's with a friend of his.
We're talking and such, and I hear the guy who's with my friend saying he is going to steal a PSP. I didn't actually believe him, though.
They leave, and soon after, I get done with my grocery shopping and head out. While leaving, I drive by to see my friend and his friend surronded by a few cops. I was absolutely disgusted.
I see my friend on Monday once again during lunch. I ignore him completely. He asks me what's wrong, and I tell him that I can't believe what he did. He says he doesn't care about the fact that he shoplifted. I told him off and he proceeds with the generic insults. Now, everybody else around me is insulting me as well, saying that I'm "lame" and they support my former friend in this situation, because they do it as well and they have no problem with it.
Now to a different story. My sister is a social worker for a middle school in a town about an hour away and I have the day off so I tag along with her. The kids she works with seem uninterested in their school work. At this point, I have no opinions on these kids.
She gets rough with them and the kids proceed to insult her behind her back. I yell at these kids as well for doing such. They really don't care, however, and insult me as well as I leave the room.
The handful of students she works with are juvenile delinquents, and have drank alcohol on a daily basis, smoked weed, had sex, got into fist fights almost five times a week, and were even in gangs. Their parents even knew about this and did nothing at all. I was speechless.
It's lunch time. I decide to get some food at Wendy's because the food at the school looked unappetizing. I pass by a table of eigth graders and I overhear their conversation. One kid was asking if he should have sex with his girlfriend and then dump her, and everyone else agreed. I couldn't believe it.
Do people have morals these days? I can't believe human society has stooped this low. It's pathetic. These kids are the slimeballs of society, and if these kids are our future, I really am worried.
