Has anyone been successful getting games like X-Com UFO Defense or Darklandsrunning on a new PC with Vista? Would appreciate the help as these are two of the best games I still have played to date.

I'm actually saddened that this is an actual discussion. Fear had some creepy parts. Doom3 makes you jump when things bang really loud right near you. They both used cheap tricks, and both suffered from creativity. What I'd love to see is some parts you'd have found in the original doom. Remember how you could hear the snarling and noises creatures were making down halls and in areas you could hear but not see? Those sounds kept your senses up high and alert, and this intensified those encounters. Then there were times hordes of them chased you all over the base, keeping you on your toes and nervous of the next encounter. One thing I'd have loved to have added was creatures that you'd have to fear if they came near. Something to make you think, "HOLY S&%$T!!!!" and run like mad to get away.... or hide from and hope it doesn't see you as it passes! Enemies that would OWN you if you engaged them! Terrify you with the cruelty of how they attack! Ones that'd make sounds to alert you in the distance so you knew you needed to run, or would surprise you and make you flee for your life or die... And after that fear is in you, somewhere down the line maybe make it possible to find a weapon or a method to fight it! Doom and Fear both let you kill everything you encounter right off with little effort and with every weapon. This isn't scary at all, imho. Why can't these developers figure this out?
