[QUOTE="JIT93"][QUOTE="Wildedge93"][QUOTE="JIT93"] That's already taken care of though :) The old computer has a 630W PSU So that'll fit my needs for now :)

then get a 5770, so much better than regretting it later :D

Eh, I already have it though :? Can't I just overclock it and it'll turn into a 5770? :D

um OCing is easy, making it stable is impossible :D

[QUOTE="NecroDemon"]

Only has a 300W Power Supply so you will need to upgrade it in order to run that graphics card.

[QUOTE="muscleserge"]I am in a bit of a dilemma, my brother totaled my car, so I have to save up for a new one. I was planning on a whole new PC, but I must adjust. My current specs are: 650w OCZ PSU 3GB or ram e6400 @ 3.2 ghz 8800GT OCed 730/1780/1000 win 7 64 It runs games fine, even Crysis with everything on high and shadows to med @ 16x10 res, but in game like metro 2033 I have to lower the res to 1360x765 and stick to high in DX10. I wanna upgrade so that I could play metro at my native rez and better fps in Crysis wouldn't hurt either. I found a couple of HD4890s and gtx275s on ebay for $150. I have looked at hd5830s but the cheapest is $250, I could put that extra $100 toward more ram, or a used q6600, or q8400. What would u guys recommend, maybe there is a better alternative?

dude ur fine, u dont need to upgrade for another year just save ur money for ur ride (and learn form your mistakes :P) but yea a 8800gt can max out every game out so far and for another year so yea *cant max obvious games*

3.4ghz c2d would do better than that quad. IT all depends on clock speed at this point. also most of the time c2d are better than c2qs because no games take advantage of a quad core only few like GTA4 but that's cause its optimized poorly

Coming from the Type a ppl. I totally agree with you as there being nothing new to Crysis except the fantastic graphics and good controls. Everything else i saw in games like cod4, killzone 2 and so on (sorry i have a large console background). But i saw more tactical in Metro 2033, then crysis. But best of all i didnt really like crysis's story to much. i mean it was really good up to the point..... SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER where you find out ur fighting those aliens instead of like mutated Koreans or something. But after that point it was pretty much readable till the end.

i was under the impressions that i would need to get a new motherboard and pwoersupply to upgrade to a quad-core, but if u know of one that's compatible wiht my current gear, linky linky please.
also, isn't a quad-core rather usless with current-gen stuff?
and how high do u think i could saftley overclock my 2.4 ghz processor too?
addeddum: is the 775 socket size the only thing i need to worry about compatability wise?
adddiontally: i heard overclocking a dell is like fighting a mytical fireberathing dragon with a box of matches, any truth to that?

BlackDevil99

okay well u are right, u need a new psu because dell packs a puppy in that is literally, a puppy :P i am not to wise in psu's but yea ill have something alittle later. now i dont suggest ocing becuase u need a good cooler and a good cooler requires a bigger case to support the cooler. so i suggest getting this cpu or any of this within ur budget. yea the mobo has to have a 775 socket to hold a C2D, and the C2Q is a 775 socket as well so u have no worrie's about compatiabilty but u should worry about that 512mb of ram. i suggest getting 2 sticks of 2GB of ram. and ocing a dell, is exactly that

well i have a Duo Core as well a E2180 stock speed at 2.0GHz. i posted up a similar post a few weeks ago. and a lot of people told me dont bother upgrading to a Core 2 Duo.

instead they told me to upgrade to a Quad Core Duo CPU.

or told me to overclock my CPU.

which i did and i did picked up a lot of FPS from my games i OC from 2.0GHz to a 2.66GHz

acsam12304
yea, everyone is right dont bother buying another c2d just go to c2q. i have the c2d E7400 and i gotta say its really good but ur better off getting like a Q8800 or something along those lines since both c2d and c2q have the same socket. which is the 775 socket. or u can oc like this guy said but i say get a c2q.

Im either conisdering a WD 1TB caviar black with sata 3 or 2x500gb for raid 0. Which one is better?

Gammet25
lol i c u kinda took my advice :P anyway i suggest u get the 1tb becuase yea sure the speed isnt there but in a raid ur pretty much screwed if even the slightest problem happens cause the data is literally split in half and placed on the drives. and u can't use one without the other, UNLESS u have a 1tb or 500 gb external to back up ur data.everyday, i wouldnt do the raid (well i did but yea.)
