Gears of War looks better than Gears of War 2 on most accounts - textures, detail, lighting, color. Game designers these days are trying to make their games more colorful. I believe they are accomplishing this very nicely... though to their disadvantage. I would personally prefer a more monotone atmosphere if the game and its setting demand such, especially over a multicolored mess of cheesy console fun. All aforementioned accounted for, Gears of War 2 looks better in some departments, notably character textures and some lighting effects. But that is where it ends. Does Gears of War 2 really use a different engine, or just a poor update to the previous? Meh. It doesn't detract, so whatever.
The 360 is superior in hardware capability, game selection, and customer service (yes, customer service is better with Microsoft than Sony, as hard as it may be to believe). This is inclusive of online services, etc. There are more games for the 360 as well as more active users of the 360. Its controllers even dominate the PS3. So before you start fanboying the PS3, check out Gamespot's article. Oh wait, the PS3 has Blu-Ray? Who cares? It isn't a good Blu-Ray player for starts. Secondly, once Microsoft gets its act together with Blu-Ray installed standard, who is going to defend Sony then? It was the same with the Xbox as it is now with the 360. Reality. It sucks.
Thank you Gamespot for the amazing recap of Grand Theft Auto's 3D new school history. It helps to see the pictures and understand how much gaming has come in just seven short years. I feel like it was just a couple years ago that I player GTA III at my older cousin's house. I was 12.
What about the new Windows 7 or XP SP3? Vista is a failure. Dx 10 is a joke. People need to realize that Dx 9 isn't totally milked yet and the "new generation" is just an evolution of the last. The Xbox 360 is able to pump out equal graphics and resolutions to Dx 10 games on the PC without a Dx 10 card. How? How is Crysis hacked for Dx 9 on XP and somehow preforms better with the same detail as "Dx 10" on Vista. "Dx 10" features are as much a marketing gimmick as sabotaged features on Dx 9 versions as "Nvidia Fog" and "Nvidia Grass" are to Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games. Smell the light people. Taste my colors. XP SP3 is the way to go.
