Well, I think a laptop would be nicer, but that adds like 1000 bucks. Yeah, I just want it to be good. And no, although I am Mormon, it was not a mormon boarding school. Think of it more as a lockdown residential treatment facility. Wait a sec, didn't I say don't ask. Anyways...

wouldn't that be less memory if I get two 512's? Help me understand the whole memory thing or graphics cards. I understand normal RAM, but what's the difference between that and GPU memory?

uhhh...

I just noticed that this is NOT the proper place for hardware questions, so I will just turn it into a "what games should I get" thread. I'm way out of the loop and would like a brief rundown of what happened the past two years, what's good now, and stuff that is coming up. Please save me the trouble of going through the hundreds of weekly and daily Gamespot and other gaming site e-mails in my inbox. Thanks

Graphic cards questions-new to PC gamingOkay, my mom got rid of all my console stuff while I was in a "special" school (don't ask) in Utah (lamest state EVER)for two years, so I'm way out of the loop and getting interested in PC games now that Starcraft II is coming and I want to play stuff like Guild Wars and other new PC games. The problem is, I have never really learned about what stuff I need as far as graphics cards. I always used computers for other stuff, like starcraft, chatting, schhol, web games, etc. So, I have no idea if a Dual 512MB NVidia® GeForceTM Go 7900 GS - SLI Enabled card is over kill, or if I should just stick with dual 256 MB or what. I just have no idea what all the stuff in the name means. And I want the card to last. I'd rather not have the bare minimum fo rnew games and have it be obsolete within a year. Any help here? I don't want to waste money or underspend, either. Any help would be appeciated.
