@godslayer61 @olddadgamer @nerdman67 Everyone at the office is cracking up... Sorry @olddadgamer and @nerdman67 looks like you guys lost this one. I mean it is everyone at his office.
I think the low res mod is my new favorite. Idk why, it just looks really pleasing to me, and I have a pretty beefy gaming rig so its not like I need it or anything.
@RaymanDK @XaK2 I mean don't get me wrong I love the stuff Danny does, same for Seb, and Cam and all the other guys. Its just that Danny and Seb are listed as the hosts but Danny was only involved in the first two episodes while Cam has been his replacement for six now. I was just wondering when they would actually fix the "About" section seeing as Danny no longer hosts the segment/lives in the US.
@BoogieL0ve No, however there is no reason to personally insult someone. I mean I get that you want to sound cool and funny on the internet but it just comes off as lame and cause you to lose credibility. No one's going to listen to a jerk.
Also I noticed you've spent about half your day defending the Wii U. Great job on a day well spent, I'm sure you've changed a lot of minds! While I love the Wii U and the games that I'v played for it, and I am definitely looking forward to some games coming out; I think there is a legitimate reason for concern on if it will be successful. You've questioned a lot of peoples views on success, however enjoyment does not equal success. Something can be loved and adored by many and be talked about for years down the line in a positive light however that does not make it successful. Success (especially in this case) is measured in terms of profitability. If the Wii U doesn't sell enough units to cover the costs of making more units to sell, or to pay for the Wii U's that have already been created then it can't be successful. Also if it doesn't sell enough units to make creating games for it a viable option then it also is not successful. The reason that there is little to no third party support is because developing for the Wii U will yield little if any profit for the developer.
You mentioned Tomb Raider in another post and how the game was deemed a failure by the developer. Thats because Tomb Raider was a commercial failure. Tomb Raider needed to sell 5-10 million copies (more copies then the entire Wii U install base) in order to make a profit/cover the costs of development. Its currently only sold around 4 million copies. If this was developed as an exclusive for the Wii U even with 100% of the Wii U owners (around 4 million) purchasing it, it still wouldn't have made enough to cover development costs. It was a failure despite how great of a game it was. If you enjoyed it and think it was a great purchase, then that's what it was: A great purchase. Your enjoyment does not make the game itself a success.
No third party studio will develop for a system that they cant make enough money to pay for the costs to develop. If a third party studio can't do it, then it is reasonable to assume that it would be fairly difficult for Nintendo as well, regardless of how great the games made are.
Third Party support won't come until there are more hardware units out, but people won't buy any units without games available. Its a catch 22.
@Sevenizz I've been under the impression that its the core gamers that determine where the market goes. The casuals are not the early adopters or the ones who wait out for releases; most casuals if they already have a system wont see the need to upgrade to a new one for a while, look at the wii to wii u for example. Casuals end up going where the people they know are.
