[QUOTE="XboxUnderground"]here's a pic of my console set up as it is right now
nothing much really the only standout thing is the tv

there it is

TV: Samsung HLS5687w 1080p DLP
Xbox 360 w/ HDDVD add on
PS3
Samsung DVD player: HD960 1080p upconverting player
Sony 5.1 HTIB that I've had for a few years now

The stand is just a cheap stand from Ikea..... i'm doing some mod work on it right now to add some support in the middle and make it look a little nicer

I'm fine with DVDs....yoshi_64
Which means making a HD-DVD player is a waste of MS money. VERY few people will get it.

same with Blu-Ray :|

neither is actually much better than DVD

according to industry workers

if you are watching a DVD on a good 1080i TV

it's basically indistinguishable from Blu-Ray on 1080p

Microsoft is actually very smart, people who want HD movies can buy the add on, MS is not forcing HD DVD on us unlike other companies.. they are makin this addon an "OPTION"..... they sellin it for probably $100- 200.. its a cheaper alternate and people who havent brough a system yet and want HD DVD can buy an 360 and the addon for 500- 600.. not only can they play games but also HD movies too for the same price as the current HD DVD player that are out now..loverblue05
That's the problem none 360 owners want HD movies and if you do, your paying 500-600 dollars for a system. *Gasp* Ps3 prices. Second point, is if John Doe wants HD-DVD he'll just buy an HD-DVD player. Since it seems the 360 add-on and HD-DVD players are around the same price. Now if Jonny wants Blu-Ray, his choices are the PS3 or one of the 1000 dollar players. Which one do you think Jonny is going to choose? Bottom Line is people who are indifferent about games will be buying PS3 if they want Blu-Ray because it's a cheap Blu-ray player. If you want HD-DVD your not going to get the 360 and the attachment.

the add on and the players are basically the same price?

Since when did $150 = $600

[QUOTE="XboxUnderground"]PS3 may play blu-ray

but I wouldn't even mention it if I was sony

not after that travesty that was the PS2 DVD player
SolidTy

Or the travesty of the Xbox DVD player.

The Xbox is a really good DVD player though, in fact. I use it over the DVD on my Sony home theatre system

PS2 is pretty much the worst ever

even the cheap $20 Nova DVD players look amazing compared to PS2
