My Favorites, My Opinions! Part 2

A few days ago I posted a blog with the same title (kinda). But I left some stuff out, now I make amends.

Favorite PS3 game: Dragon Age Origins

Again!

Favorite Xbox 360 game: Halo 3

Squeaking by ODST due to its multiplayer aspect and the absolute fun of getting crushed by 12 year old dudes. The game is just too good not to mention.

Favorite PSP game: Dissidia: FF

As fighting games go, its about time we got this one.

Favorite DS game: Dragon Quest 4: Chapters of the Chosen

Long title, old school remake, amazing game. Back in the days of the original Nintendo Dragon Quest (warrior) was rivaled only by Final Fantasy. This game is too epic to pass up.

Favorite Sega Genesis game: Shining Force 2

Hands down my favorite RPG of all time. While it doesn't stick to its ancient roots and the newer versions all seem to be too, I dunno, off, Still a great game to plug in and play once in a while.

Favorite Series: Final Fantasy

No, I didn't put this up here because my buddy griped at me in my last blog, I put it up here because its the truth. No other game Series has seen me buy every single title with little hesitation. Though I didn't like Tactics, or the MMO, the series excels at keeping me interested with its Single Player stuff. I can't wait for FF13.

Favorite PC game: WoW

No doubt the most played game I own, but it doesn't need much of an explanation.

I think i'll end the blog here, for now. Talk to you all later.

My favorites, My opinions!

I keep getting asked the same question, "What is your favorite game?". The truth is I don't have an outright answer, its a tough question. I finally took the time to go through my games and decide which games were tops to me. And heres the list:

Favorite First Person Shooter: Halo Series, excluding wars (since its not a shooter)

Ok so I know that comment may get a lot of scrutiny. But honestly this is my opinion. The reason Halo is up there for me, is simply put, I have fun playing it. Back in the days of old, when Halo: CE was out and no one knew what to think of it. My buddy invited me to his house to try it out and I immediately got hooked. since then i've been buying up Halo games like they were candy. Though I will admit they could be "better" they are still massively fun and engrossing, with a still fresh and unique story and an outright masterful multiplayer.

Favorite Real Time Strategy: Starcraft

This was the toughest choice. I've played Warcraft, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Dawn of War, and several others. But Starcraft stands out to me because it is so outright, well, awesome. The Wait for Starcraft 2 is consuming me with a seething desire to PLAY.. THE.. GAME!

Favorite Role Playing Shooter: Fallout 3

No doubt a lot of people will (or won't) reciprocate this feeling. Fallout 3 has consumed hours and hours of my day, so much so that I've played it from waking up to going back to bed. Story, gameplay, and a unique outlook on the world makes it worth having in so many ways.

Favorite MMO: World of Warcraft

Yet another decision that will get scrutiny. WoW, as it's come to be called, was my first major MMO and I Can't seem to pull myself away. while I don't consider myself a "hardcore" WoW player I feel I play the way I want to play, to have fun.

Favorite (non MMO) RPG: Dragon Age: Origins

While new, this game has taken it's place atop my list of favorite games since I got it. Built by the same guys who brought us Mass Effect (which only got beat on this list by Fallout 3) DA: O will consume me for many years to come.

Favorite Platformer: Super Metroid

Old school for the win! Super Metroid was one of few platformers I actually wanted to play for long periods of time, only beating out Mario for its "wow really" moments.

Favorite Multiplayer Game: Halo: ODST

Halo gets 2 mentions on this list, but only because I find the Multiplayer in ODST better than its predecessors. Firefight mode rules and the campaign is too much fun to enjoy alone.

Favorite Single Player game: Dragon Age: Origins

See above..

Well folks thats about it, a list of my favorite games at the moment, it will evolve, a lot, but for now its darn good. I don't feel like I left any genres out that I take part it. That is to say I don't like sports games, or racing games, or puzzlers. And Fighting game is up there because I don't enjoy them enough to pick a favorite. Anyway, I am off to play some Dragon Age, see ya later!!

No, Really, It happened like that.

September 22nd, I received my copy of Halo 3: ODST. The day is wrought with constant restarting, and replaying levels. Gasping in awe of the amazing musical score and the unique albeit similar gameplay, and the challenge of taking down a Brute with a Suppressed SMG. The fun factor of the game is astounding, there is no shortage of challenge or amazement.

September 23rd, Halo 3: ODST gets added to my list of conquered games. While i've only done normal difficulty thus far, I found it to be enthralling and incredibly fun. Though I find the bulk of the fun to be playing the game with friends.

As of yet I haven't even had the chance to try firefight. I don't really wanna try it alone and no one seems to want to try it with me. I plan to annoy my friends until they do but I am unsure of how long it will take. At this point all my hopes have come true for the game. The new weapons are awesome, so much so that i've traded shotguns for the new SMG (I like it more) and the new pistol may yet be the best sidearm i've used. Each sequence of the game captured my attention fully and I found myself watching videos over and over again through each attempt at the Campaign. And I am sure it will be the same when I try Campaign on a higher difficulty with my friends. This game will get a great review from me when I get around to it but for now, ill just stick with playing the game for hours on end.

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day.

And now I can add that to my list of mostly finished games..

What you ask? Ask!! Anyway, I finally put Bioshock back into my Xbox and finished it, the last battle was rediculous....ly easy. I know it was only on Easy Difficulty but seriously, that was way easier then I expected, with it comes the task of starting over to get all the achievements, but I dont see that happening anytime soon, and ill be burning time on Bioshock 2 when it comes out way more, I plan to keep Bioshock for a long long time and for good reason.

Rarely does any game grab my attention like Bioshock, it comes down to amazing story, great graphics, an undeniable fun factor that lives on through every level, and a feeling that this game should become a staple in anyone's collection. While it was an awkward game and it seemed to hold back a bit from how truly brutal it could have been, the game does not disappoint in any way, shape, or form. A must have for any fan of great games, this one will recieve a great review from me when I get around to making one. Anyway, have a great day, farewell!!

Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Wow!

Midnight, August 24th, 2009: Xeo heads to Wal mart to pick up his copy of Dissidia: Final fantasy, and for the next few hours he spends his time gasping in awe over the game.

Ok, so its begun, the "year of evil" as I said in a previous blog, but it is easier then I thought. Dissidia is amazing, while it has its drawbacks as all games do, it is very well put together and has taken up residence upon my "best PSP game that I own" list. Each character in the game feels solid, and while you have to unlock the side of chaos, they arent overly hard to get. At this point ive unlocked Sephiroth, Garland, and Cloud of Darkness. While I plan to take it slow and unlock all of them before trying harder to play the game, so far im very impressed. I plan to play this game pretty hardcore over the next few weeks and I will post a review of it when I get far enough, but so far, im extremely hooked on this game. Talk to all you crazy type people later.

A year of Evil

After E3.. I realized something. Im going to be broke for a long time. Starting in August, my funds are going to spent mainly on top rank games. Starting with Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and probably ending sometime near the end of 2010. Among these games are Halo: ODST, Wet, Bioshock 2, Modern Warfare 2, FF13, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, among many others. While I know that I will be very happy to play these amazing titles, I'm also sightly worried about my funds. In all truth I shouldn't have much of a problem. The main game I'm currently waiting for is the long anticipated SC2. When I get that, ill be very.. VERY.. happy.

On a Semi Related note, lately i've taken to buying games on Xboxlive Marketplace or PS: Store. Among them are Duke Nukem 3D and MTG: Duels of the Planeswalkers. Both are great games and i'm quite happy to have them. Anyway, sorry for the semi short blog, but thats all I have to say at the moment. Talk to ya later!!

Rekindled addiction to Halo 3.

Ok, so Halo 3 was for a long time my favorite game, the issue was with a lack of people to play with, so it turns out, I got burned out on it. I began playing more of other games, like Unreal Tourney 3, Orange Box, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fable 2, among others. Well lately thats all changed, I currently work in a gas station and since working there have met a whole lot more peoople who play Xboxlive games, Specifically Halo 3. What this means is that Halo 3 has found itself in my Xbox more often these days compared to a few months back. While I never stopped liking Halo 3, ive grown addicted yet again. Personally I cant wait for Halo: ODST, and im sure when it comes out Halo 3 will be collecting dust on my shelf again, at least a while. Im hoping ODST is all its cracked up to be and that it will be longer than 3-5 hours but in all honesty I wont care either way, I will definately buy it and play with my friends. Anyway, sorry for the short blog but thats all I have to say, see ya.

Waiting is so.. unwise.

This Blog, is about two games. NO!, about 2.. gems. Bethesda games is one of my all time favorite companies, way back before the 360, there was Morrowind, and it was glorious. Now, in the future, I have picked up 2 more Bethesda games, Fallout 3 and ES4: Oblivion. And for the love of all things awesome, I should NOT have waited. The games are nothing short of amazing, while having the usual issues that all games have, they arent perfect. No game is perfect, NONE! Arguing this fact is fairly inevitable, someone, somewhere, will claim that their favorite game is perfect. But I digress, this blog isnt about that.

Fallout 3 was first to join my collection. I got it for the 360, cus of the MS points. I only have two DLCs for it right now, but as it stands thats good enough for me. The freedom and size of the game is astounding, while it doesnt boast massive freedom entirely, the zone is big enough so you have a lot of exploring to do. I haven't made it extremely far but the bits I have played are awesome. So far Operation: Anchorage was a ton a fun and fighting my first Super Mutant Behemoth was an eye opener, he just. wont. die. Its easy to get used to the controls and the new stuff is a breath of fresh air, play it as an FPS or an RPG, or both, the choice is yours.

I think thats why Bethesda is so awesome, cus they give you a choice, anyway. Back to the blog.

Oblivion is currently the favorite of mine. I've wanted it ever since it came out, just didnt buy it. I dont know why, but I didnt. The moment you escape the first zone, you are free to do as you please. Go on a killing frenzy, or be the hero of Tamriel. Quests are abundant early on and are quite deep and attention grabbing. The enemies are abundant as well, but not terribly swarming. While Oblvion has its issues, you can expect it to get a good review from me. Two sore thumbs way up, sore from playing it so much.

Anyway, thanks a ton for reading this, even though I know of only one person who reads my blogs, possibly two but mainly one. And have a fantastic year!

So sick of Console Warring..

"The best way to win a war is to not fight one at all."~ I have no idea who said this, but he/she was right.

There comes a time when you realize the insane amount of fanboyism and loyalty is getting out of hand, specifically, involving the console war. I personally own a PS3 and an Xbox360 and I wouldnt pick either over the other. But reading forums on this site, or on other sites, I cant help but be baffled by the amount of constant bickering over which console is better. Here is my personal opinion on how the Console War started and is playing out. Xbox360 was here first, but that in no way makes it the best console, the truth is the 360 is so high up on the market because it was out longer and came out with good if not great games. PS3 was poised to take that position upon release, but with a $700 price tag, a lack of games anyone wanted, and a serious hype issue, the PS3 fell short of this goal. This isnt saying the 360 won, or is winning. PS3 is getting its good games out now, Killzone 2 for instance is one of the most visually stunning and engrossing shooters ive played in a long time. However it also comes to light that the company behind Killzone 2 pushed it back so much that fans nearly gave up on the game, teasing us with awesome cutscenes and previews for almost 2 years, how rude :P. Incidentally, when the game came out I actually traded 17 games for it (and a 3 month Xboxlive subscription) and I feel it was a worthy loss for the gain. As far as the Wii goes, it is a fun console, I just haven't bought one yet. My issue is this, im sick of people getting angry over other people getting something good, for instance, the announcement that FF13 was coming the 360 made a lot of people angry, and for no reason. From a company standpoint Square-Enix stands to make a ton more money if they release on multiple platforms, and its not like the game is gonna effect you at all if John Q. Public plays it on his 360 or his PS3, its all preference. Personally, my plan was to get FF13 on the 360, but a lack of Xboxlive buddies forced my hand towards getting a PS3 (and im glad I did).

If we were looking at this from an actual war viewpoint, heres how it would have played out. The Xbox360 arrived on the battlefield first, build up a base, Maximised defensive capabilities, and dug in. The PS3 shows up with the biggest, scariest weapons on the planet, and realized they forgot the ammo (via a lack of good games). While it didnt take long for PS3 to get a few decent titles out the 360 performed multiple surgical strikes during that build (Halo3, Halo 2, Gears of War, Bioshock). During this conflict the Wii just sorta snuck around in the background appealing to fans worldwide and ultimately not competing as much with the bigger two companies. Dont get me wrong, I Love Nintendo, they were the first, and will always be!!

The truth is, there really is no point to arguing over Halo 3 or Killzone 2, or PS3 vs Xbox360. Eventually the 3 companies will combine into SonySofTendo and release the Playbox 360 Wii- Xtreme ultra console, and we will all have nothing to argue over. Besides, what is gaming about, HAVING.... FUN!!!! Not arguing that your favorite game is better than mine. And speaking of favorite games, Pong is still the Best game on the planet. So get over it. This is Xeo Fury, and again, I dont care what you think, unless your name is Ebi, in which case, you better tell me what you think. SEE YA!

Thats a first..

Halo Wars has entered my collection and all I can say is, W...O...W! This is the first RTS ive ever played on a console that ive liked. Most fall short of their PC versions due to poor controls, graphics, or some other fatal flaw that makes them nigh unplayable. But Halo Wars seems to have taken the cake on the whole, Console RTS, Genre. First off, the graphics are amazing, the explosions are stylish and tend to keep your attention. the AI is also quite amazing, your troops dont require you to keep a close eye on them (with the exception of a Locust attack) And most of the infamous troops from the halo series keep live up to their awesomeness, from Scorpion tanks to the legendary Warthog. Skirmish mode is very playable, almost to the point of being too addicting, and its nice not to have to build an oversized base just to keep yourself from getting ganked by the PC. Resources are endless, which is nice, and the best units are well priced. So far my only gripes about the game are the lack of a covenant campaign and the lack of Flood Playability, but, they arent necessary for the game to be good. I highly reccomend this game to any owner of an Xbox360 and if I was rating it, it would get 5 out of 5.. or whatever. Anyway, TAKE IT EASY!!
