[QUOTE="organic_machine"]The only one I want to see fail is Microsoft. I HATE how they are trying to take over everything. I hope their new MP3 player fails, and I hope the 360 fails. Too bad it wont. Now MS will never learn not to stick their head where it doesnt belong. Other than that, I really dont want any company to fail. Raidea
Wow, that's pathetic.
I'm sure Sega and especially Nintendo fans were saying that when Sony entered with the PS1, and look what Sony did to the market, they have helped bring gaming to the masses, and before you start going on about how MS havn't brought anything to console gaming, have a think about how big the changes would have been in this generation if it wasn't for companies like MS and Sega pushing online console gaming.
Anyway you look at it though, the consoles' strong side is still offline gaming, and will be for at least 2-3 more generations IMO. Most games just can't be made for online capabilities, at least with how games are developed today. So nope, no revolution yet.4.just because a game has a high rating doesn't mean it's good.

5. don't let a review help you decide whether the game will be good or not just buy it.

Those aren't necessarily untrue, especially 4.
KeyWii is a hardcore cow? o.oIf only a keyboard was useful on the PS2, and oh! It isn't. Too bad.
No one really claimed innovation, but everyone generally seems to like it except for ultra-uber-hardcore cows like KeyWii or GermanShepard

I personally would like to see Nintendo following Sega's path.TriangleHardCan you say why? Personally, I wouldn't like any company out of the picture. Competition = Better products, unless they all decide to make one all-in-one console that has power, accessibility and innovation.
[QUOTE="OceanLeet"][QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"][QUOTE="kcpp2b"][QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"]PS2 has only been out for 7 years but it looks like i will last for a few more...
and ps1 lasted for almost exactly 10 years.
And ps3 is almost guarunteed to last 10+ years becuase it is more prepared for the long term than either ps1 or ps2...
FatalDomain
The way technology changes every year it makes no sense to gurantee something like that...unless you're a fanboy
fair enough.
Still though sony will support ps3 so that it lasts for 10+ years regardless. It's part of thier overall plan. They have said this many times.
I actually really like this about Sony. Instead of crapping on their elder system every 5 years like Nintendo and MS, Sony supports their consoles over a longer period of time and creates a smoother transition between generations.
While I agree with your statement about Sony supporting its legacy systems, I disagree about the smoother transition statement. Sony supporting its "elder" systems as you call it has nothing to do with ease of user transition, its about Sony not wanting to axe its current cash cow. In a market where new consoles are sold at a loss, Sony was smart enough to continue its support for its legacy systems that are making a profit to offset the loss of the new console.......simple as that!
Game On...
I disagree. Whether this is Sony's point of view or not is irrelevant. There is indeed a smoother transition.
Say you like the the PS2's games, say GoW and GoW2. You're not really sure about the PS3 yet because it doesn't really have a title that you must have, so you buy a PS2 which is really cheap so the dent in the wallet isn't visible + GoW/2.
A year has passed, and there's GoW 3 for the PS3 plus a couple more titles you'd like. You can now buy a PS3 which is probably cheaper, thus evening out the price the PS3 from last year would be (because you did buy a PS2), plus you can still play your favorite PS2 games, so you didn't lose anything by buying the PS2 earlier, even after "its time".
