Thanks everyones info helped :) ill try right awayAs soon as the battled started, I took cover in one of the corners in the room. That way you aren't too exposed if you stand out in the open or trying to engage the Matriarch right away.
From there you can take out the enemies in the adjacent corners. Once you take them out, you can move from corner to corner. I had the same problem with I faced the Matriarch the first time; I was low leveled. This is the strategy I used in Insanity and Hardcore as well. Hope this helps you out :)
