I had the same problem except I found out my Ethernet cable port went dead now I got to send my Xbox 360 into the Texas repair facility here a comes 2 to 3 weeks of bordom!!

Sorry dude or dudette you don't go into console settings you go onto your account and go into privacy settings from there

PS. Don't sign out of your account when your appearing offline because i think it saves your settings .
