(This is only for those with the free time to read) Below I will be talking about a 3 week project that was made after the first few betas of the new forum/site leaked. In return, me and a team of programmers from the community have come together to bring a new and better gamespot. Although the forum was the primary focus and was made first, we also are trying to put in all the game databases and reviews on a new overall site as well that is directly integrated into the Forum. A forum that combines the community, that shows the contributions and top posters, that fuses FUSE/Leveling and other new features together no matter what you do. but let's start with the site first.

The V.1 prototype

This is the V.1 prototype which actually the current complete version is V.2. We managed to get everything right almost the first time with a very beautiful layout that changes how pages load based on your internet connection speed. Keep in mind that The v.2 looks a bit different a smoother than this, and it will be able to be tried out at the open public community beta during THIS week." The site is designed with your needs in mind which loads between pages differently depending on your internet speed. This of course, INCLUDES the drop down menus under every option you see, and float menus when you hover over pictures or/and links. 1. You will either have a fast connection. Fast connections or determined by a background speed app that has 3 green bars. You can't see it, but when the Green bars turn yellow, you will be at Medium speed. Red is slow, and White is a limited connection or a EDGE like connection. 2.Green and yellow will have the pages scroll onto the screen in a cool fashion. The yellow scrolling speed having a slower FPS but it will not be clunky while scrolling. Red will have it load like normal pages usually do, and white will lower the quality of the page including pictures on the page, and turn the drop down menus into plain html. THey will still be there but not fancy.

site customization options

People already want the black theme. This site focuses on the black theme primarily as DEFAULT and can be switched to ANY other color you can possibly think of but it's not the only thing you can do with this site/forum. THE WHOLE SITE IS AN OPEN CUSTOM SYSTEM!(Outside of the core code of course.) What does this mean? 1.You can customize your personal settings to make certain things change on the site the way you want to. Even with HTML and CSS support among other scripts. (of course there are limits.) 2.You can change the font of all the text in the site at almost any kind of style, even with different ones on select pages by going to you profile. 3.The whole site is integrated with the forum, that means the forum can be changed to your liking as well (except for the core programming obviously. 4.Example, you could have a red background with a flying charizard in the backgroun on top of it, and have the forums be floating pokeball with words on them, or have an outerspace theme where hovering over a forum or website link will zoom it into the front of the screen while the rest of the page zooms in the back with a space star background. But what kind of customizationss can you use? Pretty much all of them on every part of the site outside of the actual things that are inputted by the admins. System Wars and the board description will still be the same for example even if you have an animated Sonic gif next to each from option and a blue horizontal from layout. There is a tutorial to help you with that each member can use to get used to the custom site/forum settings. Of course you can choose to skip or use that as a default if you want.

The forum

The forum is the exciting part. The whole thing encourages community involvement. So we made the forum the most important part of your membership at gamespot with innovative features. Everything you do on the website is connected to your forum profiles and Puleses. But we will get to that in a second. Keep in mind the new login will have the GS logo and Facebook/Twitter/Google/Yahoo/Microsoft sing-up options. Which will be in the open beta this week.) What you see is the original version and not the edited new version of the forum sign-up, which also serves as the Gamespot sign-up. HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: 1.You click on sign-up and the site will ask for your E-mail. 2.Type in your E-mail and a confirmation E-mail will be sent. Where you can name your profile etc. That's it? You ask? No, built in is a password detection and a IP address monitor. Each account has 7 sign-up fails before an E-mail is sent to the owner for security purposes. If you are banned and sign with the same IP, the forum will shut down and will not be able to be accessed by your computer. However, you can still participate in limited site activities. Also, if you make an alt account, and you use the same password, it will ask you to type in a new username and that username you were going to make will be locked. This is secure alt control. Another Method of alt control is your first 10 posts will be scanned by the site to look for similarities. When the similarities are above 40% mods and admins will be notified with the most active first. These 10 posts will be shown to them and they can determine if the person is the same or not and remove that user. However, if it's over 80% the site will remove you automatically but you would have to type almost exactly the same for that to work, and even Brofists(known troll) can't do that, his posts are inconsistent although it's the same style. Also just because you got past the first ten means nothing. Say you have a member named fred, and he started posting like his previous account 40 posts later after his 10. Any memeber that are suspicious can tell a mod, a mod can click on the "scan member fucntion" to search ANY ten posts in the persons posting history and see how high the %'s of each are. If above 60% in that case it will be clear that is is a match and that member will be removed. Forums all have detection for posts and topics. What this means is if you are in legacy platforms for example and post a topic like "I find it Obamas fault." The forum will move it to Off-topic automatically. If you type a topic like "Lol obama" the forum will most likely delete it automatically. This makes posting mistakes non existent. For posts, if you are in a conversation in SW about Ryse being better than Killzone or something like that., and you post about Pac-man, you will receive a friendly notice that your piost "may" be off-topic. This will help you to check and maybe remove post before that post is moderated. A post like "LOL BUTTHURT" or "XXX's thread" or "hahahahah" or anything of that nature may be automatically removed. 5 of those will give you a warning if the latter, and mods will be alerted. There are other features as well but you will all see them in the Beta.

Forum features

Now EVERY SINGLE MEMBER AT LEAST ONE TIME will see this tutorial. The tutorial is a bare bones version of the designed Gamespot forum, although it's is pretty slick, that will show you how to use the features of the forum, including its integration with what you do or watch, or review on the site. Although this is the barebone tutorial that YOU CAN skip if you want, a lot of what I will tell you WILL work mostly the same way. Topics are generally just typed. On slower connections, there will be a new topic button. users can ONLY make 2 topics an HOUR and only 12 posts a DAY and only 6 posts in a specific forum. This 24 hours carried over so it does not reset at 12 am, if you posted a thread at 4:pm, you will have to wait until 4:pm the next day to get that topic count reset from that topic. The NEW PULSE SYSTEM is when you can get E-mail, PMs(which are automatic and but can be turned off in settings) and Social Media (Turn it on in settings) notification on EVERYTHING THAT UPDATES. From a users post that you are SUBSCRIBED to, to new news, to new previews and reviews, to new releases, to demos, to new topics or posts in your favorite forums, to your favorite user blogs, to everything. Everything that is change or updated or added, you will get a notification IF YOU WANT TO. By Default, there are no UPDATE PULSES, but you can add the pulses of whatever is on the site to your profile and receive notifications for each of them.

SUBSCRIPTION PULSES

Subcription Pulses are used for Topics, Topics created by members, and Members. Say you wanted to subscribe to me or inferior peoples like Adobeartist, Hallenbeck, Charizard1605, etc. You can then receive updates of daily or weekly when they post, write a new blog or review, upload videos or DOWNLOAD, what video or thread they viewed, etc.

Uploading and Downloading Features and other forum goodies

I forgot to mention some important additions to being a forum member. 2GB of free cloud storage for files, either to save your own personal files, or hosted images, download, videos, links, etc. You can also upload Videos, Gifs, Links, Downloads etc. In forum posts, blogs, and reviews(no downloads on those though.) however, your size is limited at first, but every other 5 levels, you will get a generous increase in size for being a wonderful member. Also video and Gifsd uploaded will be converted into low file sized Jpg's while off the screen to prevent crashing and slowdown. They will be active when they are viewable on the screen. But when you scroll away they will be Jpg's.

Personal forums for clubs and Unions and contests and etc.

Each person (But only 3 in a 24 hour period) has an option to create a PERSONAL BOARD to do with whatever they wish. Although not for illegal activity of course. Users can then share the, in the Union Board (which is one of the many new boards that are no in the tutorial so look forward to that BETA!) or for other uses. Yes, your own personal board with your own topics. A maximum of 15 personal boards can be created before level 30, which it will double to 50. Also after level 30, you can save some in your "archives" so you can make more room when you go over 50. There are also GROUP topics where you and some other members participate together to make a unique board that is owned by the group as well as managed.

Other general things

Posting limits will prevent more detail along with be making the beta which will BLOW YO)UR SOCKS OFF as much as a surprise as possible. However there are a few other things not mentioned: 1.Adding groups of friends at once. 2.THERE IS a community chat room, and yes, you can managed created Chat's, however, created chats most be created with at least 4 people. 3.You can send invites privately to select people, especially for Personal and Group boards, or just topics withing that board. 4.Like I said everything is customizable. Everything can be with CSS, HTML, and other scripts. The core programming and animations will remain the same of course. 5.There is ab option for 5, 10, and 15GB's of cloud storage. Maybe those could be arranged for special paid memberships or something.

Contributions will be rewarded.

The forum will do everything it can to put all members in the spotlight, even ear some extra features. 1.Top forum contributors every week will have their profiles on the main page. As well as new and most viewed blogs and reviews. 2.Voted reviews MAY be used as an OFFICIAL review, up to 2. 3.There are rewards that can give temporary 1-3 day mod status on a certain board. 4.Artwork and style will be presented in the front page. 5.Finding gaming news before other sites is very good, and those that do can submit. Selected members that are editors (or mods if they can) can view these and submit them for the news to be put in the front page and news section with the latest gaming info. 6. And much more.

BETA when?

Beta When? Well When is the beta? Yes we have that info, it's this week, IF nothing goes wrong. So far the whole site/forum is bug free except for ONE issues with reviews randomly vanishing but that has been fixed so that should not be a problem. IF THERE IS a delay it will be NO LATER (Unless the situation gets out of hand which I Doubt) then next Wednesday.

I still have some questions etc.

Oh do ya now? Well that's fine, I am creating an FAQ second post in this thread. Which I will fill with your questions and my answers, so that everyone will get all the answers they want outside of course, the spoilers, at the OPEN COMMUNITY BETA! And it would be wise for Gamespot to adopt such a wonderful thing, once they see it in action. It will Blow your socks off. The animation, the designs, the custom options, and yes, the tutorial is more detailed then what I showed on this thread. This will be a community run site handled by the community. If refused I will not let the idea die and I will use it for a new community. But I want Gamespot to move away from Giantbomb and removing features, and have a bug-free new site with fast fluid controlling, and tons of options for the users.

Amazing really. Release a broken website to high traffic next week without even fleshing out all the issues. It's freaking amazing. The site will implode, CBS will have to restart from scratch. I have a webstie code that is better than this..Holy crap.

[QUOTE="bultje112"]

will the lists of games you have on the site be copied over? would be a big hassle if I lost it all.

Emerald_Warrior

Yes, it carries over. But it also doesn't let you make any changes. The "Save" buttons is unresponsive. So any changes you make to it, doesn't stick.

I heard they were actually going to cancel some transfers because it's making the new site even more buggy than it already is. Looks like we will have to fight to bring the Legacy Platforms it's own board like the olden days. Draw your sword, thou time has come for war. Like spamming legacy threads and causing a massive unbalanced mess of confusion. I mean then again, this new site is going to freaking implode at the rate it's currently in. If you ever got invited like I do it's a huge slow crippled. browser crashing mess. Have the things don't work, and CONFIRMED to be on a day next week. I will save gamespot!
