Brothers in Arms Impressions
by Zemus on Comments
So, I've been playing Brothers in Arms the last 2 days (I did pick up God of War, and Shining Tears but have not yet gotten to them) and I must say that im very impressed with the overall gameplay and strategy that is involved with the game thus far. I beleve I am about half way through it and im having a hard time. However to clarity "Having a hard time" I am playing the game on Hard as I do with most of the games that I buy to get the most gametime possible out of them. So a 10 Hour game can essentially become 20 becasue of the setting.
The Load times are really starting to get to me though. A good 90 seconds for the PC version of the game to load a save or level and some of the checkpoints are at key battle spots so you can literally die in about 15 seconds or less (on Hard) and have to wait through another 90sec load time. This has happened to me at a couple spots in the game so far where I find myself just wanting to stop and give up becasue of the load time.
I am finding that it is easier that way however. Playing this game on hard is no picnic and if im stuck I take a break for an hour, get back at it and before I know it im past that part and well into the next scene becasue I just needed to calm down and take a break.
The game really isn't for everyone though. I do personally count it as a Tactical Game than a First Person Shooter like Full Spectrum Warrior. If you dont have patience and like Run and Gun Gameplay don't bother trying this. Personally I like the tactical approach. I find it more enjoyable.
Ill probably get to trying God of War and Shining Tears tonight but im not sure if it will happen. Busy evening. Ill write some impressions as I play for everyone.

No sleep

I've been a Full Time employee for a Printing Company for 3 years now and ever sinse I started Working after I finished School no matter what I do I find it impossible to just go to sleep on Sunday Evenings. You have a great weekend away from your 40hrs of hell the week before only to realize as you get into bed that night that you have to do it all over again starting as soon as you wake up the next morning. So suffice it to say every Sunday it takes me until about 1-2am to fall asleep only to wake up just after 6am.
And of course today was one hell of a day. And not being able to stay focused does not make it easy hehe.
I've had Shining Tears on my mind a lot of the day though and that kept me going. I really cannot wait to go and pick it up this week along with Brothers in Arms for the Easter Weekend.
I also Recieved my new Batch of DVD rentals from zip.ca
If you've never heard of it, its basically Netflix like the US has but its for Canada. 24.95 CDN a month to rent 4 movies at a time. I have been using it about 2 months now. Best thing ever.
Now all we need is a Gamefly type service for Canada hehe.

Xenogears Completed!
by Zemus on Comments
Well, after so many years I finally Finished Xenogears and I must say I have never felt better about finishing a game in my entire life. It feels great to finally see the ending to one of the greatest RPG's ever created.
I finished the game with about 60 Hours played with all the best gear parts and accessories and my characer levels were roughly 80. I just finished the game not 10 minutes ago so im a little speechless right now, Im actually freaking out that I finally finished it and I loved the ending.
I guess now its time for me to get ready for my next set of Projects.
This week I plan on picking up Shining Tears for PS2, and Brothers in Arms for PC. I have been excited about Shining Tears ever sinse it was announced last year. I have been playing the Shining Force series ever sinse it came out on the Genesis so this next chapter has got me pretty excited.
Brothers in Arms has gotten fantastic reviews over these past couple weeks so im also excited to give that game a go. It does look pretty strategic and more realistic than any other World War 2 games out there.

Im tired lol. but 2 hours of my DS for all that driving let the time pass by faster. However I ran into a little problem. My Touchscreen Took some damage and many pixels died on me at the top of the screen. and when I say some. I mean there are 2 HUGE black blotches on my touch screen. I have to replace it.
Luckily for me though I have my 2 Year EB warrenty for it so I can just walk in and replace it whenever I wish. My DS is still 100% playable the 2 blotches are in spots that don't hamper gameplay in anyway but they are large. I do beleve my strategy now will be to await the arrival of some new colors and pick a new one out to replace it.
I also know the Management staff on a first name basis as my EB quite well. Probably their #1 customer heh, so I know im ok and ill be fine. I just though I would report all of this to some of you. It really is annoying to see something like this happen. I heard of this happening to some other people but wow it sure is annoying.
I feel sorry for people who think that EB warrenty is stupid.

Well, off I go to the Birthday Bash for my brother. Well I guess its not really a bash lol its just a bunch of family members that get together and have dinner as an excuse to talk to eachother. What a great world we live in. Xenogears is on my brain but here I go anyway.
Now I just need to decide which GBA game to play during the 1hr Drive there. *sigh*
I have to many games

Well, Today I am going out to celebrate my Brothers birthday along with my Uncles Birthday. Which in my opinion may not be a very interesting evening considering my mind has nothing on it except for Xenogears as im nearing its end and starting to devise my own Thoeries about Episode 3 of Xenosaga.
However I'll try not to let is occupy my mind this evening I know it will play a factor in distracting me over it.
The problem is I've wanted to finish this game sinse I first got it back in 98, my problem back then was in my opinion I never had the mindset to let the storyline back then really sink into my brain as I was a lot younger back then. I got to the ending stretch and just never finished it. I also don't think I understood half of the storyline but One thing remained clear to me despite that, and that was the fact that I somehow knew this was my favourite game.
Now that im older and understand a lot of the "words" better I do fully understand just what the heck is happening. All that is left for me to do now is enter the Final Dungeon and Destroy -Deus- and the Zohar, and somehow work out killing Miang in there without Harming Elly. Seeing as this will be my first time finishing the game I cannot wait to see what happens. I have been waiting for this moment for the last roughly 7 years of my life despite the fact that I may not have fully understood it back then.
But first I must get through today heh. And I know it wont be easy..........

Introduction

Well, I thought I would finally take action and Start my Journal. Ive been on these message boards for 3 years now so it only makes sense that I start doing this now.
Well lets start with What I am as a Gamer?
I've been gaming for my entire life sinse I was 4 years old back in 87, I had everything when I was little so I got to experience all the old school gaming consoles. I do consider myself a hardcore gamer over many people that I do know. I can easily sit down spend an entire afternoon playing something and not even realize the time pass by as it feels like only a few minutes.
I carry no bias to any console, I think each one has its advantages and set backs, In some cases I might sound more biased toward Xbox but mainly that would be if a game is Multiplatform imo the Xbox generally always does get the best and most enjoyable version.
I do own a High End Computer also, As I do spend most of my time on it, I still cannot consider it my best platform. I really do enjoy them all equally.
Currently I am playing Xenogears on PS1, as I just finished going through Xenosaga 1&2 recently I thought I would go back and see Xenogears again sinse I have not seen it for years. And really I think it just may be one of the best RPG's ever created in terms of gameplay and storyline. The game is so addicting that it is almost impossible to put down because no matter what happens you always want to keep going.
I just recieved my new Xbox Magazine with the Jade Empire Demo and I gotta say, I am blown away by the way the game actually plays. I had my doubts about it for the past few weeks but when I got to sit down and try it out last night it totally changed around the way I feel about the game. I cannot wait to go and pick it up in April and I encourage everyone who has an xbox to run out and pick up the latest issue and try the demo.
It is very short but worth it,
