I am sure everyone here has heard about the attempt of Capcom to stop the secondhand gaming industry. My thoughts on it are here. but the real question is what are we going to DO about it? Allow it, protest? Protest in what form? Answer below please.

When you leave an MMO
by Zeta_Thompson on Comments
When you leave an online game - how do you do it?
- Do you ragequit then log in repeatedly to harrass other players and convince them to play elsewhere?
- Do you deinstall or delete all your characters without telling anyone?
- Do you force the GMs to site ban you by breaking every rule you can so you cannot play anymore?
- Do you pick fights with players until they want you leave?
- Do you log in and stand around telling everyone how bored you are?
- Do you gather your friends around and go play somwwhere else?
- Do you tell your friends you are quitting then ask them to log in and see if anyone has anything to say about it?
- Do you stop playing and stand around talking to friends until gradually you fade away?
- Do you leave a polite post on an in game board or forum related to the game telling everyone that RL intrudes you had fun, maybe you will return one day?
Lately I have seen a lot of different ways people leave games. Sad to say most I have seen are the drama king ways. I was wondering - since people here tend to be hardcore real gamers - what are the main reasons you stop playing a game and how do you do it?
Personally I tend to just fade, After a a year if I do not play or feel the inclination to do so, I deinstall. A post I wrote on a thread in a site is sort of what prompted this one. It refers to someone kicked off a game they played for at least 5 years.
Gaming Mishmash

I wrote a review here for Persona 4. The long one with more info is on the blog here. I had hoped to get a PS3 this year, but with the announcement of the 4 I am not sure. If it is backwards compatible to the 3 I may wait and get the 4. If not, well most of my friends have a 3.
Speaking of backwards compatibility, the Gamecube died, no money to buy a replacement. Thank (insert omnipotent being here) that the Wii plays the cube games. I restarted Darkened Skye. That game and I have a long history. The first time I tried it my cartridge died, either at or just before the Boss Battle. I was furious. The game is not an easy one, I forgot how hard till I restarted tonight over 5 years later. Some of the story is coming back, most is relearning.
I have been building again for the MUD (valhalla.com port 2000 - shameless plug there.) It has been hard to get back into it because it seems in every online game I run into 1/3 botters, 1/3 posers and 1/3 real gamers. On the real gamers these days they are jaded and hard to excite about anything. Role Players, Pkers and even the hack and slashers, seem to find Guild Wars, the Mud, even Call of Duty the same old stuff. We need something new and exciting. Or maybe just something to spark our imaginations again. I am finding that smaller more intense stories with less gameplay time required are more interesting. Perhaps that is the problem - few games leave me wanting more. The ones that do seem to be great ideas but lack greatly in the technical stability department.
Chaos Monkey goes to school this fall, I am looking for a job and to relocate. Once she does I think my next project will be building a gaming machine. So Who likes what for motherboards, processors, video and sound cards? I am open to any and all suggestions.

I have been on a rant lately
by Zeta_Thompson on Comments
The rant is here. I am in and out and I am NOT happy with Xfire, Raptr or any utility that is supposed to make traking stuff easier . Oh and Facebook is on my never use list. 3 viruses 1 year means no more facebook at least not through direct contact so am back on MySpace till the whackos all head over there again.
raptr FAIL

So far I see nothing here that recommends it over xfire, Gamer DNA or any other Game social combination thingy. (yeah I know. I got really technical there) I have much that detracts. First It seems to hate browsers. Yep, it despises them. Oh it will let me access Menus on a site but actually click and read? Yahoo mail would not load, the frontpage, yes, the actual messages? No. File transfer to a YIM user doesn't work - no surprise there it has never worked on Yahoo for me. Messaging works, but then so does Yahoo. Attempting to cling on a link in a post made the machine laugh at me.
The talk to your friends in a game feature is nice, but xfire does that already as do various ims and applications like Trillian and Pidgeon. I see nothing listed in the games list indicates Raptr has any games that the xfire does not have. And why would I want to include my xfire buddies? that seems to work BTW. Finally, after the mail freeze i decided to log put and close raptr. Guess what yep - as we speak the MS agent is gathering information as to why the app has stopped running. Sorry crash on close = FAIL

Ok after my little side trip to Overlord on the Wii I am back on the list Fired up //.hack:Infection today. Man It WAS fun using the Wii back to ps2 controls. Game movement and concepts came back quickly. Not bad after putting it down for over 6 months. That says something good about the game. Am at level 26 need 9 more before i go for the boss back to the grind of leveling up.
