I'll make this one short and simple for you, all in my opinion.

The ones you should play, in no order:

FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10

The ones you should NOT play, in any order:

FF8, FF11, FF12, FF13.

You do that and you'll be just fine!

Metamania

Actually, I can come up with better advice. Play the first game for the old school experience. Maybe play FFII, otherwise go directly to VI, skip VII, play VIII, then ditch Final Fantasy for good!

I dont get this at all. What does this mean? Do people really want to play games the next 5-6 years on a system that has a GPU that was considered powerful in 2009?

Tell me of the time when the console with the best specs won the console race. Like I said, it's all about the games. I think the latter part of your post is a lot of hyperbole. I'm fairly confident that won't happen as there aren't any hyper proprietary designs this time around with developer-friendliness being a top priority for Sony and MS.

I am not concerned with who wins the console war. The Wii won this gen and no one even remembers the console anymore.

Also, a console doesnt have to a 'hyper proprietary design' to be powerful. If Sony can do it, MS surely can. Hell, it's not even a matter of if they can or not, MS has been the leader the past few years and can definitely take a loss to future proof their system.

Don't misunderstand, I couldn't possibly care any less who "wins," the point was that more power doesn't mean squat if the games can't back it up. Sony learned this the hard way.

They're both using AMD processors iirc. (I really wish they weren't) Unless I'm going off of bad information, I don't believe the respective specs from these consoles are going to be radically different from one another. But I suppose we'll know all very soon.

The specs really don't matter at this point. Games, show us the games. That's all it really ever is about anyway. An intuitive menu interface would also be a nice touch as well as removing the paywall for the "Gold" features.

I think anyone who doesn't like IX is out of their mind

JML897

I'll take this as a compliment. IX was quite mediocre with gameplay that's barely any deeper than the original FF. It felt so uninspired and bland. One would think that the developer looked at the old Grand List of Role-Playing Game Cliches as a "to-do" list. Final Fantasy games aren't very good to begin with for the most part, but IX managed to lower the bar even further, which is remarkable when you think about it.

Mr. Two Hit Wonder is mounting a comeback. Sorry, but this guy became completely irrelevant for a reason.

Yeah, this is thread bumping somewhat, but I just got to the end of Chris's campaign. Holy crap, this kind of game design is utterly incompetent. Who ever implemented these camera angles should be barred from game development forever. Having Google searched this issue, I can tell that I'm not alone here. I see who the real final boss is, the camera angle in this scene has to be one of the more difficult boss fights I've ever fought in any video game that I've ever played.

So they have the same policy as Sony then. Glad we got this out of the way.
