I dont get this at all. What does this mean? Do people really want to play games the next 5-6 years on a system that has a GPU that was considered powerful in 2009?Â

Tell me of the time when the console with the best specs won the console race. Like I said, it's all about the games. I think the latter part of your post is a lot of hyperbole. I'm fairly confident that won't happen as there aren't any hyper proprietary designs this time around with developer-friendliness being a top priority for Sony and MS.
I am not concerned with who wins the console war. The Wii won this gen and no one even remembers the console anymore.Â
Also, a console doesnt have to a 'hyper proprietary design' to be powerful. If Sony can do it, MS surely can. Hell, it's not even a matter of if they can or not, MS has been the leader the past few years and can definitely take a loss to future proof their system.Â
Don't misunderstand, I couldn't possibly care any less who "wins," the point was that more power doesn't mean squat if the games can't back it up. Sony learned this the hard way.
They're both using AMD processors iirc. (I really wish they weren't) Unless I'm going off of bad information, I don't believe the respective specs from these consoles are going to be radically different from one another. But I suppose we'll know all very soon.
