The problem might be caused by not having the latest punkbuster drivers for COD 5. Since you haven't played in a while, they me out of date compared to the servers. Go here and follow the instruction to update them: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
Well my first online experience that got me into pc gaming was bf 1942. I remember looking at trailers and such and seeing all the vehicles, soldiers, and guns that made me want to get the game right away. The game made me so immersed that transformed me into a WWII fanatic.
If you enjoyed the previous Wolfenstein series of games then I would reccomend "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars". Great game with solid and fun multiplayer. It is still heavily populated with servers and players.
If you're going to be watching high definition content like blu ray, I would reccomend the monitor that supports the 1080p. Otherwise if it's just for gaming and stuff, I would get the Samsung a nice upgrade from your previous monitor.
I have the audioengine a5's and they are great 2.0 speakers with many inputs, spdif, sub out, RCA, mini, etc. They are a tad expensive at $325 and a bit big cause they are bookshelf size, so if you want smaller and less expensive multimedia speakers, the audioengine a2's are also good and I highly reccomend them if you are looking for audiophile sound quality.
