Wow, it's amazing how many people have intimate knowledge of PCF's deal with EA to get the rights back.
Wait, what's that? They don't. It's just entitled gamer BS? Ah, that's too bad. I thought maybe people finally pulled their heads out of their collective arses.
@Jinzo_111887: For. The. Last. Time. This isn't about the name Doom. It's about making a derivative game based on Bethesda's IP (let's not kid ourselves, if you know how things came about, Bethesda is really ZeniMax's parent company) without permission. Period.
You can't release games using the existing IP that you don't own, common name or not. Star Wars RL, using the actual likenesses of the characters and such, wouldn't be any different.
@grasu: *snicker* "Generic" he says. You've clearly never played it, as love it or hate it, the one thing it ain't is generic. It's not a Doom wannabe, either. Hell, it's closer to being a Suda51 game than it is to apeing Doom, and it's probably the first shooter to employ the slide mechanic that pretty much every shooter uses now.
Of course, you'll claim you have played it, and double down on the trolling BS, but we know better.
@Smosh150: It's Creative Assembly, and unless something went horribly, horribly awry... well, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Even at their worst, they're pretty damn good.
@howthegodzkill: Like, maybe, one exclusive a year? If that. That's not really that much of a record. SFV is just an anomaly this year, seeing as it's a Japanese third party game and Street Fighter, as being on PS4 really doesn't say anything about the platform. (Especially with all the issues that it had.)
@Zelda99: But he lost, to all people, Boogie2899. That's like... well I'm not really sure what that's like, Brad Pitt losing best actor to Pauly Shore?
@pezzott1: For the movie. It's not to game universe, considering who Jeremy Irons is playing, and really, watching someone laying in a bed isn't really exciting. Plus, when you think about it, using a system that allows you to actually use your muscles, when muscle memory is important to the the process, it makes more sense.
