I think "experts" should be renamed "idiots" personally. They say the most ridiculous things and tend to be wrong half the time. And how exactly do you become and "expert" video game market analizer? Seriously, what makes their opinion any different than some random person off the street? THEY BOTH DON'T KNOW THE FUTURE! I might as well ask my friggen' dog who will win the console war! If someon is involved in the industry, has the technical knowhow, has the connections, and has a good set of critical thinking skills, they can be "experts" This doesnt mean they will always be right. Yes, it is simply another persons opinion. But it is one that should cary a little more weight given the expertise behind the opinion.
Yes, I guess you can say an educated guess differs them from the opinions of fanboys, but far too many times have "experts" (I refuse to unquote this) gotten predictions so completely wrong when it's their profession to get things predicted correctly.
But it sint their job to predict the future. Its their job to analyze the data and calculate odds. Yes they have been terribly wrong at times, but unforseen circumstances can change everything. people thought the wii wouldnt even get out the door.. its doing great.... but others predicted the success of the ps2 with perfect accuracy.
People tend to only remember when someone was wrong. not when they were right.
